If youve never seen the vista from Kukuiolono Park pavilion in Kalaheo (dont forget the free Jack Hodges and the Scott Kelby Worldwide Photowalk coming up there Sunday, Oct. 6!), check out Aren Blakes oil painting thats part of the more than 70 pieces on display at 2019 Art Kauai in the Kauai Society of Artists gallery in Kukui Grove Center. Kudos to Melissa McFerrin-Warrack, who started her tenure with Kukui Grove by visiting an Art Kauai opening.

Aren said this was the first time she got to do gallery-sitting, but was great in pointing out the artist book where people are able to get more information on the individual participating artists and find out about the artwork on display…how did Robb Jones (he was a KSA Invitation Award winner!) come up with his “Chicken Plucker?”
Who is “Uncle Wayne?” Melissa said he’ll be part of the Family Fun Day that celebrates the anniversary of the popular Keiki Korner play area. This should be most interesting, as it offers a family fun activity in the midst of the fall break on Wednesday, Oct. 9.
OK, time to get ready for a super-busy weekend of everything from climate change (yes, it’s been hot!) to Peace Day, including a candlelight vigil at the Lihue Hongwanji Mission front lawn (bon dance area?) Saturday from 7 p.m.
