Kudos to Pam Arroyo and the Regency at Puakea ohana on hosting the little craft fair (love the change of hours to allow working people to take in the festivities) in observance of National Assisted Living Week. Janice Bond was there early to check out vendors (shes got up to 50 spaces) for the East Kauai Lions Club Spaghetti luncheon Sunday, Oct. 6 at the Kauai War Memorial Convention Hall in Lihue.

More kudos to first-time vendor Patti Pears whose collection of work in acrylic even matched her outfit, and novelist Sydney Theadora (she said TGI website gets a lot of hits from people looking for updates on the Koloa workforce housing project) is not letting her being wheelchair-boundness keep her from pushing her line of books centered around the Hawaiian Islands (she still has the Oahu book to be published).
Sydney was with her caregiver Christine Myrval (did anyone find the painted Kauai Rock?), who had on her Santa shirt from the original Lights on Rice parade (when is it this year, Eileen Winters?) days, and Eunice Burgonio was quick to show off the hand-made items available from the Regency residents.
OK, don’t forget — it’s the Kauai Independent Food Bank’s Silver Birthday Bash (Kelvin Moniz won’t be officiating football tonight!) starting at 5:30 p.m. at the Kauai Veterans Center, and don’t forget to stop by the free Elder Law Day presented by the Legal Aid Society of Hawaii and the county’s Agency on Elderly Affairs today from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Kauai War Memorial Convention Hall. You might get one of the free giveaways.
