Duquesa Padamada of the state Department of Health was getting her arm twisted about becoming the newest Kauai Lions Club member yes, they had a table at the fair, too and Rebecca Carnate (remember her from Rebeccas Kitchen during the recent Kauai Independent Food Banks Dine Out for Hunger?) was with Janice Bond (she recruited Rebecca to the East Kauai Lions, and mahalo for the Cop on Top headwear that goes perfect for the Special Olympics bowling coming up Oct. 5 and 6), checking out the 60 vendors because of her nursing background.

Kudos to Theresa Koki of Life’s Choices on coordinating the annual health and wellness fair that was held at the Kauai Marriott Resort &Beach Club Friday, where even some of its people got to check out the impaired-vision-simulation goggles by Kauai Police Department’s Bobby Thompson (he was officiating at the Kauai Interscholastic Federation football game after the health fair, along with Kelvin Moniz, who is going to miss this Friday’s game because he’ll be tied up with the Kauai Independent Food Bank silver birthday bash).
Grace Delos Reyes and Celia Melchor Questin of the county Agency on Elderly Affairs were proud to introduce Maria Almeida, the new Kauai long-term-care ombudsman, who got to experience the fair along with a busload of Alu Like kupuna. The kupuna always know how to make lemonade out of lemons and have fun.
