Hokulea’s Worldwide Voyage film is scheduled to be shown at 4 p.m. today at the Kauai Community College Performing Arts Center.
“Moananuiakea: One Ocean, One People, One Canoe” is a feature-length documentary film celebrating Hokulea’s historic Malama Honua worldwide voyage.
“It was a voyage that also represented the fulfillment of the vision of Nainoa Thompson and his contemporaries — the passing of the mantle to the next generation of kanaka maoli who will retain the skills of their ancestors and perpetuate this tradition for generations to come,” said a press release.
The screening will be followed by a 30-minute, question-and-answer session with crew members, including Kauaians Dennis Chun, John Kruse and Keala Kai.
Tickets are $15 general admission, $10 for keiki 12 and under.
