Dr. Monty Downs and state Department of Health Kauai District Health Officer Dr. Janet Berreman will briefly discuss the issue of child drownings on Kauai during the Lihue Business Association’s Thursday meeting.
Downs is an emergency room physician at Wilcox Medical Center and president of the Kauai Lifeguard Association.
The meeting is 7:30 to 9 a.m. at Duke’s Canoe Club on Kalapaki Beach.
They will take a look at risks posed by pools, fresh and ocean water, and the roles that businesses, contractors, legislators and community members can play in improving water safety for keiki.
Also on the agenda are Peter Simon of Kuleana.work and Susan Irie, owner of The 808 Workplace.
