KEKAHA — St. Theresa School Principal Wendy Castillo welcomed 127 new and returning learners to St. Theresa School at the annual parent meeting on Monday to kick off the new school year.
Excitement and anticipation for the new school year were evident as Castillo was joined by the St. Theresa School faculty and staff, which she introduced at the beginning of the meeting.
In her welcome address, Castillo shared the St. Theresa School mission and motto: “St. Theresa School is dedicated to guiding learners as they follow the footsteps of Jesus. Faith, ohana and a quality education are the pillars upon which we build tomorrow’s leaders.”
“I feel incredibly honored to have the opportunity to serve as your principal this year,” she said. “I intend to foster learner growth by ensuring a clean, safe, learning environment, high quality, caring teachers, and clear and consistent communication between learners, families, teachers and staff. Together we can make this an amazing year, and I look forward to working with all of you.” Castillo also shared information pertaining to school safety procedures, basic policy review, how all families can get involved, and a reminder to use the school’s online communication tool, “School Speak,” for all school, learner and committee updates.
The meeting concluded with the introduction of returning parent leaders Theresa Garza, parent association chairperson, and Duke Lang, school carnival committee chairperson.
