Teodoro O. ‘Teddy’ ‘Boy’ ‘Godo’ Gorospe Jr.

Teodoro O. “Teddy” “Boy” “Godo” Gorospe Jr. was born on May 15, 1952, at Wilcox Hospital. He passed away on July 8, 2018, at the age of 67 at Queen’s Hospital on Oahu with his loving wife Dee Dee and sister Nadeen by his side. Teddy was a cook at the Coco Palms and Sea Shell Restaurant and retired from Akita Enterprise where he was a school bus driver.

He was preceded in death by his father Teodoro O. Gorospe Sr.; sister Rose Marie Gorospe; uncle James Alviar; brother-in-law Duane Aliveado.

He is survived by his loving wife of 50½ years Deanne “Dee Dee” Worthington Gorospe of Kapahi; daughter Rynda (Daniel “Danny”) Gorospe Kaaihue of Kapaa; sons, Dustin Gorospe of Kapahi, Ryan (Delrae “Kaleo”) Gorospe-Keli’ipule’ole of Kapahi; seven grandchildren, Courtney Gorospe, Kalin “Waikaula” (Nissa Raposas) Gorospe-Keli’ipule’ole, Kelsie “Honey-Girl” Gorospe-Keli’ipule’ole, Daniel “Mana Boy” Gorospe-Kaaihue, Makoa Gorospe, Kainalu “Kai Boy” Gorospe-Kaaihue, Kaison “Walea” Gorospe-Keli’ipule’ole; two hanai sons, Kalin Cummings of Kapahi and Kiko Kanealii of Anahola; mother Rose Villanueva-Alviar; brothers, Richard Dale “Sonny” (Rubelyn A “Ruby”) Gorospe Tolentino of Kapaa, Conrado “Dado” (Corazon “Cora”) Gorospe of Kapaa, James “Jimmy” (Sue) Macasio of Seneca Kanasas, Steve Elder of Knoxville Tennessee, Scott “Scotty” (Cindy) Elder of Knoxville Tennessee; sisters, Adeline (Howard Toki II) of Lihue, Leonora “Nora” (Michael) Ornellas of Kapaa, Nadeen Aliveado of Wahiwa, Oahu, Norine “Girlie” (John) Goas of Pennsylvania, Denise (Edward “Eddie” Alamillo of Makawao Maui); numerous aunties, uncles, nieces, nephews cousins and friends.

Services for Teddy will be held on Oct. 26, 2019, at Saint Catherine’s Church. Visitation will be held from 8 to 9:55 a.m. with Mass and services to be held at 10 a.m. A celebration of life will be held at St. Catherine’s Parish Hall behind the church. A scattering of ashes will be held at a later date.

Florence Nakamasu Wakuta

Florence Nakamasu Wakuta passed away at the age of 86, surrounded by her loving ohana on July 14, 2019. She was born on Dec. 7, 1932, to Takejiro and Chiyo Nakamasu and was the 2nd eldest of 8 children. Florence was married for 61 years to Hideo Wakuta who predeceased her in 2014.

Florence’s children were fortunate to have their mother as a stay-at-home mom until they were in their teens and later worked for Kapaa Bakery and Kapaa Big Save. She also worked tirelessly beside her husband on their pineapple farm.

An active member of Hui Alu Club, she was a strong supporter of the Okinawan heritage and cooked for many of their events including their yearly Golf Tournament, Shinnenkai (New Year’s Party) and the Okinawan Festival. Her favorite dishes that friends and family loved were her Pigs Feet Soup, Sweet/Sour Pigs Feet and Poi Andagi. Along with her husband, they were awarded the HUOA Uchinanchu of the Year in 2002.

Florence was preceded in death by her brother Ernest Nakamasu and survived by her children, Derek (Debra) Wakuta of Kapaa, Dawn (Xavier) Ikei of Aiea, Daryl (Alison) Wakuta of Torrance, California, Duane (Puanani) Wakuta of Kapaa; siblings, Stella Miyoshi of Kapaa, Nancy Talbo of Lihue, Frances Ishikawa of Honolulu, Roy Nakamasu of Honolulu, Dennis Nakamasu of Honolulu, Donna Kozai of Las Vegas, Nevada. Also surviving are her 8 grandchildren, Desiree Wakuta-Matsuda, Kelsey and Brent Arakaki, Brandee and Carey Wakuta, Chivas, Jetsen and Duane Wakuta, Jr.; 4 great grandchildren; caregiver Debra Bahnmiller; Wailua Ohana, Amanda, Kainoa, Fredna, and Robyn.

Friends may visit with the family from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m., on Friday, Aug. 16, 2019, at the Wakuta residence at 5980A Kaapuni Road. Please see parking attendants for assistance. Services will begin at 4:30 p.m. Casual attire and no flowers please.

Eveline Ruth Pascua Corpuz

Eveline Ruth Pascua Corpuz passed away on July 13, 2019. She was born on Feb. 26, 1957, and worked as a certified nurses aide.

She is preceded in death by her mother Esmenia P. Pascua and father Jaime S. Pascua.

She is survived by her husband Rogelio L. Corpuz; siblings, Rodney (Jan) Pascua, Delia (Allen) Tumbaga, Edwin (Mely) Pascua; nephews, Bryson (Hosanna) Tumbaga, Cyrus (Beverly) Tumbaga, James (Jaimie W.) Pascua; nieces, Jaimie (Severino Jr.) Pascua, Tiana Bee (Harold) Pascua; grandnephews and grandnieces, Jayvier Butay, Sylas Butay, Xaileia Hoopii, Marley Jay Wakumoto-Pascua, Evelia Tumbaga, Darius Jace Tumbaga; numerous aunties, uncles, cousins, nephews, nieces, and friends.

Friends may visit with the family on Friday, Aug. 16, 2019, at Borthwick Kauai Mortuary Chapel, Koloa. Service at will be held at 6 p.m.

Services will also be held on Saturday Aug. 17, 2019, at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Kalaheo with visitation at 8:30 a.m. and Mass to be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. There will be a burial to follow at Hanapepe Public Cemetery

Laurie Williams

Laurie Williams, beloved daughter of Anne and Tom Welsh, died July 27, 2019 at Wilcox Memorial Hospital.

She was a loving and caring person and her passing has left many people with sadness in their hearts.

She was born in Los Angeles, California on May 18, 1959, and from the earliest age showed her love of music. She became an accomplished singer – song writer and entertained in L.A. and Ojai, California, London, Himeji City, Japan and of course the Garden Island of Kauai. She was well known at Kauai Music Festival and Mokihana Composer’s contest.

She was preceded in death by her biological father Gary. But Tom Welsh was the real father for 50 years, her favorite grandmother “Mammy” and her uncle Johnny also went before.

She is survived by her parents Anne and Tom Welsh; Aunt Sheila Orvis and half sister Marilyn Lauritsen. With her passing her mother gained a guardian Angel.

A celebration of life will be held at the Wai’oli Hui’ia Church in Hanalei on Saturday, Aug. 17, 2019. Welcoming to begin at 10 a.m. with services to follow at 10:30 a.m.

Regina Cabico Torres

Regina Cabico Torres, 80, passed away at Wilcox Medical Center on July 24, 2019. She was born on Sept. 17, 1938, in Dasay Narvacan Ilocos Sur, Philippines and retired from the Kauai Hilton Hotels & Resorts as a house keeper.

She is preceded in death by her parents Severo and Hilaria Cabico; her husband Fausto Sambajon Torre; infant son Francis Torres.

She is survived by her children, Sonny Torres of the Philippines, Juanita (Richard) Agaran of Kapaa, Boni (Cathy) Torres of the Philippines, Clarence (Melba) Torres of Eleele, Anabel (Rhod) Giron of Lanai City, Robert Torres of Kapaa; her siblings, Cresencia Garces of Kealia, Carol (Elpidio) Nono of Kapaa; 15, grandchildren, 2 great-grand children and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, Aug. 31, 2019, at Saint Catherine’s Church with visitation at 8 a.m. and a mass celebration at 10 a.m.

There will be a burial to follow at St. Catherine’s Cemetery.

Diane Nokuko Uyeno

Diane Nokuko Uyeno, 91, of Lihue, passed away at Queen’s Medical Center on July 22, 2019.

She is preceded in death by her daughter Cheryl.

She is survived by her husband John Uyeno.

Milagros Viloria

Milagros Viloria, 87, of Hanamaulu, passed away at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on July 26, 2019. She was born in Camiling, Tarlac, Philippines on March 3, 1932, and retired as a Pantry Helper with various hotels.

Preceded in death by her husband Salvador Viloria; grandson Dalton Viloria; brother Jose Albino.

Milagros is survived by four children, Arleen (Stan) Yoshimori, Carmella (Craig) Davis, Joy (Gary Bennett) Viloria, Orlando (Doris) Viloria; 6 grandchildren, Stacia Viloria, Ryan Viloria, Stanton Yoshimori, Sarah Davis, Amanda Davis, Kristina Viloria; 5 great-grandchildren, Kobe Viloria, Saesha Coyamin, Rysen Coyamin, Taj Yoshimori, Emi-Rose Yoshimori; sisters in the Philippines; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Private funeral services at Immaculate Conception Church and burial at Kauai Memorial Gardens were held on Aug. 9. 2019.

Eleanor Setsuko Lau

Eleanor Setsuko Lau, 89, of Honolulu, a retired manager for Pocketbook Man and Duty Free Shoppers, died peacefully in Honolulu.

She is survived by her husband Edward; daughters, Linda (Vernon) Azuma, Bonnie (Eric) Honma; son Colin (Janine) Lau; brother Ralph (Jean) Ige; sister Agnes Nakamatsu; 7 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

Rodney Gerard Medeiros

Rodney Gerard Medeiros, 70, of Lihue, passed away on Aug. 5, 2019. He was born on Kauai on May 25, 1949, and worked as Airport Maintenance for the State of Hawaii.

He was preceded in death by his mother Alice Medeiros and brother Calvin Medeiros.

Rodney is survived by his father Manuel Medeiros; son Richard (Shelly) Medeiros; daughters, Leila (Abe) Kuhaulua, Ziba (Colin Nakamura) Medeiros; nieces, Alyssa (Hanson Hsu) Kaneakua, Cherina (Tony Laborte) Medeiros; grandchildren, Ashley, Ashkhon, Daisha and Rashaan Kuhaulua, Naja, Collin, Noah and Fehryn Pungan, Bayleigh and R.J Medeiros, and 5 great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held on Aug. 17, 2019, from 11 a.m to 4 p.m. at the Bryan J. Baptiste Sports Complex, the large pavilion behind the Kapaa Skate park near the roundabout.

Darrell Gene Amorin

Darrell Gene Amorin, 60, went home to be with the Lord on June 7, 2019. He was born July 15, 1958, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital in Lihue and was a painter for many years.

He is preceded in death by parents Frank and Maria Amorin.

He is survived by his children, Emerson (Amber) Amorin, Jennifer (Keola) Amorin, Lea Amorin; sisters, Priscilla (Osang) Miguel, Carol (Ron) Dias; brother Harold Amorin. He is also survived by his grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, Aug. 24, 2019, at Kauai Veterans Center in Lihue. Visitation from 8:30 a.m. and services celebrated at 10 a.m. Family suggests casual attire.
