Fishing tourney reeled in good times
There was a great event that was overlooked this past Saturday at Port Allen — the Kamali‘i Challenge. Put on by, I believe, his stage name is uncle “Kimo.” He gave away so many prizes to all of the 300-plus children that showed up. There was so much food and aloha it was overwhelming.
A fishing tournament for ages 3-15 and prizes to be had for all. Free T-shirts, fishing poles already set up with hooks, weights, and guys to help re-rig. Kauai Shrimp provided 100 pounds of shrimp for bait!
Kids who didn’t catch anything won prizes, too. The show’s host was a hoot. Those who missed out really missed out. Something needs to be said for all that was put into this event that gave so much to the keiko of Kauai. So many happy little children and parents running around from all sides of the island.
I hope that you reach out to Kimo and all the volunteers who were there in the heat giving their time. The Instagram page is Kamalii_challenge. Please give this guy some credit. He really deserves a huge mahalo. Thank you so much for making my little one and her friends Saturday one she won’t forget!
