LIHUE — Joshua Fukino has been a vocal advocate for medical marijuana since 2015, when he decided to take a risk and start Kauai Kine Media, which hosts the “Daily Toke.”
It’s a web series of two or three minute-videos made daily that focuses on state laws and legislative news, how to legally get your card, types of strains, and the business side of cannabis.
And in September, he’s hosting his first Kauai Cannabis and Hemp Conference and Expo with the help of Haunani Rossi and Noe Marcos, all part of a group that calls itself Kauai Community Events.
While the group has been involved in other cannabis conferences on Kauai in recent years, this expo is focused on answering questions and providing resources for the local community — and the cost is $10 for preregistration, $15 at the door.
“In 2015 a friend came back from California talking about the industry and I recognized a void in (cannabis) media and promotion in Hawaii,” Fukino said. “There’s an opportunity here we can take advantage of, and we just need more education.”
As legalization of the plant and its parts has spread throughout the nation for medicinal and recreational purposes, Fukino has been providing insight and education through “Daily Toke” and social media.
He points out that marijuana is something that’s been “called ‘black market’” for a long time, but it has a long history on Kauai.
“It’s something that’s here,” he said. “The 2019 Kauai Cannabis and Hemp Conference will attempt to dispel marijuana myths and bring attention to tangible benefits of daily cannabis use in our society.”
Kauai Prosecuting Attorney Justin Kollar is on tap as the keynote speaker, and will address the changing relationship between law enforcement and cannabis, as Hawaii has recently decriminalized a small amount of cannabis possession.
“While being a step in the right direction for the general public, Hawaii’s medical cannabis patients still do not have any workplace protections. Legalization is a process, and there will also be a talk on how to engage the legal process with success,” Fukino said.
Other speakers include legislative representatives and representatives from Pono Hawaii Initiative, dispensary representatives and speakers that will address growing techniques, trends and laws.
Panel topics include CBD as it relates to health, cannabis for seniors, cultivation, industrial hemp, political updates, and a medical checklist for obtaining the 329 medical marijuana card.
“We’re doing this for the community to educate,” Rossi said. “It’s happening all day, so listen to the panel and walk through the vendors and mingle, listen to some music.”
The 2019 Kauai Cannabis and Hemp Conference and Expo will be happening Sept. 21 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Hilton Garden Inn Kauai Wailua Bay.
Ticket outlets include Garden Island CBD in Kapaa, JC’s Flowers and Minimart in Wailua, Garden Island Hydro in Puhi and online at kauaicommunityevents.com.

Aloha Smokees,
Ya know, A I, Artificial Intelligence was started, because too many employers were reporting that there were too many stupid people in the USA, brining down the USA’s GDP…Gross Domestic Productivity.
SO AI, Artificial Intelligence, began to grow by corporate demand, in order to satisfy the necessary jobs that employers were trying to successfully fill.
Well there are millions out there who are satisfied with stupidity, and they, as there are so many, claim that they have the right to remain stupid, happy as a hot dog in a shell. And others just claim that there are not enough stupid people to fulfill the natural balance of stupid people vs. intelligent people and now with Artificial Intelligence the scale is being tipped even worse toward favoring Intelligence.
THIS IS UNFAIR…!
Because you can’t create AS, Artificial Stupidity.
For the first time in history the scales are being Broken from the weight of stupidity in society.
In fact Pres. Trump’s raving about how many more jobs are being filled is only because of Artificially Intelligent robots. These artificially intelligent robots are now being considered countable as part of the work force and how many employed.
The 18 story telescope is only looking for one thing, to find more Intelligence out there in the universe(s). They even admit to it. Sure as sticking your finger in a flame they are looking for intelligent life out there, any intelligence. What an insult passing over the rest of us, especially those of us who are only 1/2 stupid.
This is an outrage, even illegal immigrants are being considered naturally intelligent and taking our jobs.
This intelligence seeking, promoting, perpetuation of Intelligence has negative side effects. Millions of naturally stupid Americans are being laid off, and forced to surrender to a life of Food Stamps, Free Medical, Dental, and Vision harmfully wrought with side effects of Disease Care, indeed forced to. And the stupid TV ADS having an actor playing g a doctor or a happily sick person telling us to take their drug and then telling us the dozen ways the drug will kill us; that is an insult to stupidity.
As well they have to accept HUD to pay for their free apartment, and also car Insurance, and spending cash but only based on the number of fatherless children are in the apartment.
With artifice Intelligence Increasing, it is naturally outweighing stupidity, and so a movement is under way, a creeping movement. Like creeping socialism. Wherein artificiallly intelligent robot scientists have discovered that pakalolo makes you stupid. In order to fulfill the need for stupidity to spend their welfare money they now have pakalolo oil, pakalolo pills, pakalolo brownies, pakalolo therapy, captured pakalolo smoke, pakalolo lighters, and pakalolo weed; they even have pakalolo clothing sold under the stupid name of hemp clothing, hippies in San Francisco are even wearing pakalolo in their hair.
Yes, finally stupidity is catching back up with intelligence. When the electricity goes out, the electric workers hold a pakalolo conference in Eleele to verbally fix the problem, while the stupid people are locked into the same stupid intersections because of the stupid light staying red.
You see, left to itself, with ample pakalolo, stupidity Can repeat and perpetuate itself. The Center for the advancement of Stupidity at Ridgemont High has statistical proof.
Here’s a perfect example of a group of stupid people sitting around smoking the same joint even though they have a kilo of pakalolo it in the drawer and a year’s worth of Zig Zags…the same joint providing them stupidity bonding not attainable in any other way or State of Mind.
As the joint gets passed around one toker joker has Crusty lips…the next has lip scabies, the third herpes, the fat guy has salivic drool, the new loved immigrant has last weeks dried up chili con carne on his lips, the football star has blood from a juicy old rancid burger on his lips. This ain’t stupid this is bonding.
If stupidity can keep on growing we can still have more wars and kill each other until the guys in suits agree to stop for economic considerations, with stupidity We Can continue to poison our own vital air, water, and land. Poison our children till they flop over on the floor at their desks with poison sprayed next door corn fields, or even on the hedges at school. Pakalolo Stupidity can save Cancer, heart disease, stroke, Alzheimer’s, obesity, etc., from becoming extinct as stupid people will continue to eat poisoned non food disguised as fake food, leading to overuse of petrochemical carcinogenic cancer causing medical drugs.
That’s right…don’t Bogart that joke my friend. Join the Stupid Coaliton to day. Donate a joint at the door.
Besides with pakalolo you Can drink and drive with stupidity.
I’m for pakalolo stupidity, it’s the best kind they have.
And it brings us to one conclusion…Pakalolo makes ya STUPID.
Ms. Alice B. Toklas
PS pakalolo tar and resins are good for the little microscopic alveoli in our lungs that allow us to bring in oxygen and the tar and resin smother them worse than tobacco..is that stupid…?
There are plenty of substances, actions or people that “makes ya stupid” – including making obscene generalizations because of a negative bias. Attempting to then align the readers with these mediocre contemplations is a low blow.
State facts. Discuss [personal?] issues. Cultivate a healthy approach to seeking out knowledge – don’t belittle and berate.
Mahalo.
