What a crazy weekend Kim Coco Iwamoto came down to spend time with grandma at the Lihue Hongwanji bon dance (the nishime plate was the first to sell out, and the flying saucer lines were manageable) before handing out lollipops at the Kauai Pride Parade and Festival (did you see the feather eyelashes?).

Mayor Derek S.K. Kawakami unveiled his new “Left-Left, Right-Right” dance developed with help from the Boys &Girls Club members Saturday during the Mayor-a-thon, where Mark Perriello of the Kauai Chamber of Commerce stopped by before having to get into his Sha Ali Ahmad suit for the walk on the runway at the Kauai Fashion Weekend. Kaleo Carvalho worked hard to keep the event moving smoothly before doing a quick change for his walk on the runway, too. The same could be said for Kauai Police Chief Todd Raybuck, who had his whole family at the mayor-a-thon (chief was the chair and Connor was the sitter during musical chairs) before closing the men’s walk on the runway.
Lexi Jones did one better, getting all worked up (walking on hands?) with Cub Scouts Isabel Tumpap (she caught all those crabs at the Nawiliwili Yacht Club’s Father’s Day Fishing!), Ashlei Thompson and Grace Perez before doing a quick change for an appearance at Kauai Pride Parade and Festival, and settling down with Justin Cruz to host the Kauai Fashion Weekend (Ashley Nagaoka and her mom came home for the event, too).
Laurie Ho, Bill Spitz and Amy Chun had a stop at the Mayor-a-thon (kudos, Bev Brody, Kawakami and company on a tremendously active morning!) before adjourning to the Kauai Community Market, and Tyler Tanigawa was helping with the healthy food collection as a summer project during his break from college (he plays baseball for Linfield).
