Ron is getting excited about Josie Pablo’s Samuel Mahelona Memorial Hospital bon dance tonight in Kapaa because he’s waiting to try some of those Arnold Leong flying saucers, and be sure to get some of the Jocelyn Barriga andagi benefiting Kauai Special Olympics — dinner starts selling at 5:30 p.m.
Sandy Poenhelt (it’s not every day that she gets to work The Right Slice table) forgot her (painted) rocks, again, and Altetha Thomas of Monkeypod Jam (nope, coffee is only available at her Lawai shop, or at the Kauai Community Market Saturdays at Kauai Community College) is excited about Chef Joe Fox joining the team in Lawai. They’re doing a special celebration of creations Saturday for those venturing out to Lawai (the Hanapepe-Eleele Community Association is having the Kauai Community Disaster Fair at the Hanapepe armory).
Jessika Montoya-Cristobal of The Salty Wahine was talking performing arts with David Braman (mahalo, Leila Kobayashi and kumu Rachel for bringing the Koloa School Ukulele Band to perform), and Elvrine Chow of Heavenly Hakus (she even took over vending malasada on a stick when Jennifer went out to find something to eat. The Lappert’s treats following the Koloa School performance were perfect for the near-record-high temperatures!
