Police recover body at Lumaha‘i
LUMAHA‘I — Police recovered the body of a man found dead Wednesday morning in a remote area of Lumaha‘i Beach on the North Shore.
The cause of death remains undetermined, but police do not suspect foul play, according to a press release issued Thursday by the Kauai Police Department.
Police said the man has been preliminary identified as someone with no permanent address who was known to live along the beach at Lumaha‘i.
According to the press release, community members told police they had not seen the man in a while and went to check on him Wednesday at his known campsite along Lumaha‘i Beach, where he was discovered dead at about 8:30 a.m.
The man’s name is being withheld pending an autopsy to confirm his identity, along with the cause of his death, and police are continuing to investigate.
