KAILUA-KONA, Hawaii — A grand jury has indicted two retired Hawaii Police Department officers in a case involving stolen drug evidence.
West Hawaii Today reported Tuesday that a grand jury convened in Kona on Hawaii Island Tuesday to hear charges against former officers Brian Miller and Chadwick Fukui.
Police say an investigation began in 2017 after cocaine was found missing from an evidence storage facility in Hilo on the Big Island.
Miller was indicted on several criminal counts including theft, obstructing government operations, tampering with physical evidence, hindering prosecution, and promoting a dangerous drug.
Fukui was indicted on charges of hindering prosecution, two counts of criminal conspiracy and tampering with physical evidence.
Court records say four civilians were also indicted in connection with the case.
