Janet Hinayo Toyama Naumu
Janet Hinayo Toyama Naumu of Lihue passed away on March 17, 2019, at home. She was born on Nov. 13, 1927, in Kalaheo.
She was preceded in death by husband Wallace Aukai Naumu and son Dwayne Daye Naumu.
She is survived by sons Darryl (Caroline) Naumu and Glenn Naumu, daughter-in-law Ruth Naumu, grandchildren Tiffany, Trisha, Garrett and Krystal Naumu, and great-grandchildren Brenden, Aleajah and Taytra Naumu.
Memorial services will be held on Sunday, May 12, at 3 p.m. at the Kauai Veterans Center in Lihue.

Mason K. Gushiken
Mason K. Gushiken passed away at his residence in Koloa on April 15, 2019, at the age of 67. He was born on Sept. 3, 1951, on Kauai. He was a mason.
He was preceded in death by parents Gaelic Gushiken and Hajime Gushiken.
He is survived by wife Michelle Gushiken, sons Scott Cabral of Kekaha and William Silva (Luvrie Landeau) of Kekaha, daughters Kayla Gushiken of Lihue, Brayden Perreira of Lihue, Tracy Silva of Kekaha, Virginia Ka‘aihue of Koloa, grandchildren Kailea Ka‘aihue Santiago, Laysha Lynn Silva, Raven Silva, Tracelynn Silva, Zaydan Silva, Kynia Ka‘aihue, Zairus Silva, Kahili Ka‘aihue, Kupulau Ka‘aihue and Kiana Gushiken-Pereira, brothers Glen (Debra) Gushiken of Maui and Elton (Karen) Gushiken of Maui, and sister Nana (Edward Cooper) Gushiken of London, England.
Services will be held on Sunday, May 19, at Garden Island Mortuary in Lawai. Visitation is from 2 to 3 p.m., with services at 3 p.m. The family suggests casual attire.

Juan P. Lorenzo Jr.
On Monday, April 15, 2019, our beloved “Papa” Juan P. Lorenzo Jr. passed away at home at the age of 68. He was born on Nov. 3, 1950, in Lihue.
He was a retiree of both Kauai Electric and Kauai Island Utility Cooperative, and the Hawaii Air National Guard.
He was preceded in death by father Juan P. Lorenzo Sr. and mother Tranquilina “Helen” Lorenzo.
He is survived by wife Gail, children Celeste (Aleks Andrews) Lorenzo, Bradley Nelmida and Meagan (Arthur) Rice, five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, brother Melvin (Cindee) Lorenzo, sister Cynthia (Dan) Albosta, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, May 18, at Garden Island Mortuary, with viewing from 9 a.m. and services at 11 a.m.

Katharine Hoesel
Katharine Hoesel, 82, of Kapaa, passed away on May 5, 2019, at home. She was born in Kenosha, Wisconsin, and worked as a special education teacher in the Riverdale School District of Washington.
She is survived by daughter Lisa (Mike) Hoesel, son Chris (Melissa) Hoesel, and two grandchildren.

Tom Hoohie Takahashi
Tom Hoohie Takahashi passed away on April 23, 2019, at the age of 90.
He was born on June 3, 1928, and served in the National Guard.
He is preceded in death by wife Edwina Puanani Takahashi, father Nizo Takahashi, and mother Sarah Kaopio.
He is survived by daughters Kealoha Takahashi and Reiko (Jerrie) Louis, and grandchildren Justin Riley (Destiny Lynn) Louis and Jared Jaydon Louis.
A celebration of life will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Kekaha on Saturday, May 11, with visitation from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. with services at 1 p.m.
Burial will follow at the Kekaha Hawaiian Cemetery.
The family requests aloha attire.
