A project of nearly $1 million to repair and improve the existing paved areas in the entrance/exit to the Kokee Lodge, museum and pavilion areas began Monday. Roadway and parking repair improvements are also in the works at the CCC Camp.
The gravel parking lot for the pavilion will have minor repairs and will not be paved. The project is slated for nine months, but the contractor anticipates completion in July.
Project impacts include closing of sections of the entry/exit areas, the entry road to the CCC Camp, and the parking area servicing the lodge and museum.
Mitigation measures include traffic controls, interim parking in the paved parking lot, and outreach by the contractor with lodge, museum and DLNR staff.
Contractor is Earthworks Pacific, Inc. Project cost is $896,800.
