Ag Awareness and Environmental Day presented by the Kauai County Farm Bureau (they do more than the fair its coming up in August! and community markets!), and the University of Hawaii College of Tropical Agriculture and Human Resources at the Wailua Research Station (Randy Yokoyama was busy with the Elementary Science Olympiad at the Kauai Community College Saturday, too!).

Laurie Ho was busy with the Lihue Business Association meeting, and Patrick Ono was invited to get a first-hand look by Johnny Gordines (and where was he?) of the hands-on educational experience where Dr. Brian Yamamoto (he was doing hands-on learning on how to clean your footwear to help curb rapid ohia death Saturday at the Science Olympiad!) of the Kauai Community College brought the Cogs program to the students’ level, and Savannah Katulski gave the students hands-on experience milking a goat (mahalo Aunty Patty and Bora!).
“Ohana” comes from the word “‘oha,” said Rodney Haraguchi, and Lovey Harper (she said the No. 6 can either be grown wetland or dryland) was working with Adam Asquith (how many remember that charcoal-burning operational car?) in distributing kalo slips (Bronson Yadao said he got some from students who “forgot” theirs at the Kauai Coffee table) for students to plant at home, and Jonell Kaohelauli‘i (Jason Fujinaka had the day off!) was doing water education (along with Ed Kawamura Sr. — he’s got the annual M. Kawamura Farm Enterprises Expo coming up May 18 and 19!) to help grow the kalo.
