Emma Bielfeldt (she’s Kauai Police Chief Todd Rayburn’s neice) congratulates and thanks Connor Raybuck on the ukulele accompaniment to the duo’s unique rendition of “Somewhere Over The Rainbow,” inspired by Iz Kamakawiwaole’s presentation during the Kauai Police Department Change of Command ceremonies.

Yikes! Its that time of the year, again the Aqua Kauai Beach Resort hosts its pancake breakfast buffet (all you can eat, if you sit-in) Saturday from 7 to 10 a.m. benefiting the Kauai Visitor Industry Charity Walk (this is coming up, May 11!)…maybe some generous soul will pick up a batch of take-outs (works really good for those who are working Saturday morning, too) for the Troy Barboza runners and the Kauai Special Olympic athletes who will be competing at its annual field games at Vidinha Stadium … just cant take advantage of all those silent auction items and in-house games.

Jacob Vogelgesang and Chip Bahouth will be busy getting the Sheraton Kauai Resort ready for the weigh-in of the Charity Walk shoreline fishing tournament (pancake breakfasts work while waiting for that hana pa!) that will take place Sunday morning.
Kudos to Emma Bielfeldt and Connor Raybuck who did a fabulous rendition of Iz Kamakawiwaole’s “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” and more kudos to Kumu Hula Leina‘ala Pavao Jardin and Halau Ka Lei Mokihana O Leina‘ala (they go on last at this year’s Merrie Monarch Hula Festival — it’s on TV, too — that starts Thursday in Hilo!) on the wonderful “Rainbow” lei presentation to Acting Chief Michael Contrades during the Kauai Police Department change of command ceremonies (welcome, Kauai Police Chief Todd Raybuck — is he running the Troy Barboza Saturday? — and his family!).
