Caira Toshimi Nakasone
Caira Toshimi Nakasone, of Kapaa, passed away on April 2, 2019, at the age of 34. In the comfort of her home, surrounded by her family.
She will be lovingly remembered by her parents Carmen and Jerry Nakasone; sister Calah (Nakasone) Rodero; brother Trevor Nakasone; forever side kick Sean Toyooka; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins of the Shimabukuro, Nakasone, Suarez, Salado, Tokuda and Bunda Families.
Caira was born on Sept. 21, 1984. Raised on the island of Kauai, an Island School graduate, her passion for education led her to obtain a BA of Political Science from the University of Puget Sound, a BA of Sociology from Oregon State University, and her Masters of Science in Criminal Justice Administration from Chaminade University Honolulu.
She was a hard worker but also had an eclectic variety of extracurricular pursuits. To know Caira was to know a beautiful, intelligent, and witty friend. She was always excited to learn something new, and her enthusiasm was infectious. She left a positive impression to all those that were lucky enough to cross paths with her.
Caira’s Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2019, at St. Catherine Church in Kapaa. Visitation will be held from 8:30 to 10 a.m. 10 a.m. Eulogy with her Mass to follow. A reception will be held at Coyle Hall on the church premises immediately after Mass, all are invited to share in her memory.

Annie K. Kanahele passed away on April 2, 2019, on Honolulu at Straub Hospital. She was born on April 27, 1936 in Puuwai. She was a housewife and a pastor.
She is preceded in death by her husband Donald H. Kanahele; parents Kuuleilaoha and Joseph Keoualani Kanahele; sister Jeane K. Keale; brother Lindsay K. Kelley; sister Josephine K. Kelley; son Donald H. Kanahele; daughter Anna K. Kaohelaulii.
She is survived by her sons, Kelmar H. Kanahele of Hilo, HI, Joseph Keoulani (Maryann) Kunahele of Koloa; daughters, Kay K. (Isaac) Kanahele of Kekaha, Ida K (Gordon) Kaaumoana of Puuwai, Niihau, Diane H. (Bernard) Kanahele of Puuwai Niihau, and Annie K. (George) Kanahele of Puuwai Niihau; 17 grandchildren, Kathy N. (Malia) Pfeiffer, Dana A. (Kaohe) Kaohelaulii, Cheryle W. (John) Kahokuloa, Ronnie H. Kaohelaulii, Georgiana N. (Kalei) Kahale, Kurtis N. (Ilima) Kanahele, Tiffany K. (Peni) Kanahele, Myrahann K. (Brian) Kanahele Gerardo, Kerrilyann N.(Bryson) Kanahele, Tracyann H.(Hopate) Kanahele Vakameilau, Chassidyann K. Kanahele, Bernard O. Kanahele, Katelynn K. Kanahele, Julieann M. Kanahele, Joseph K. Kanahele Jr., Annieellen Marie K. (Kaleiolalaui) Kanahele, Sydneyann K. (Sanjay) Kaaumoana-Morton and Gordon K. Kaaumoana Jr.; hanai children, Tom Summers, Kuana Torres, Mark Turner, Gladys Kahale, Kaalik-lee, Charlie Baher, Nani Valpoon, Keikialoha Kahahuloa, Mike Sebareme, Lon Malapit and Jd. Queen.
A celebration of life will be held on April 20, 2019, with visitation from 9 a.m. to noon and services to be held at 12:30 p.m. at Ohana Niihau O’ Waimea Church. There will be burial to follow at Kekaha Hawaiian Cemetery. There will also be a luncheon to follow at Kekaha Boat Harbor. Family suggest aloha attire.
Theodore William Medeiros Jr.
Theodore William Medeiros Jr., 54, of Lihue, passed away at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on Feb. 10, 2019. He was born in Hilo ,on May 1, 1964, and was a car sales manager with Midpac Auto Center and then worked at Kauai Kustoms Towing.
Preceded in death by his father Theodore Medeiros; sister Wendy Medeiros.
Theodore is survived by his mother Shirley Medeiros; son Kelden (Britni Palacio) Medeiros; grandson Kaleb Medeiros; sister Debra (David) Cabarloc; brothers, Randy (Kehau) Medeiros, Paul (Cindy) Medeiros; numerous aunties, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of his life will be held on Friday, April 19, 2019, at Wailua Houselots Park beginning at 5 p.m.
Kauai Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
Satomi Hadama
Satomi Hadama of Poipu passed away at home on March 31, 2019, at the age of 87. She was born in Kapaa on Nov. 2, 1931 and retired as a loan officer at Central Pacific Bank.
She was preceded in death by her parents Kaichi and Takami Kubota; her husband Harry Hadama.
Satomi is survived by her son Burt (Annette) Hadama; daughter Lauren (Keith) Sugihara; sister Kimie Sugimoto; grandchildren, Eric (Joan) Hadama, Lori (Bruce) Nance, Kelly (Kristy) Hadama, Kristen Sugihara, Mandy Sugihara; 5 great- grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Private services were held.

Kiyoshi Kawamura
Kiyoshi Kawamura passed away on March 13, 2019, in Kilauea.
He was born on Aug. 24, 1918, in Hanalei.
He was a crane operator at Kilauea Sugar Co. and maintenance worker at Kauai High School.
He is preceded in death by his wife Hanayo Kawamura
He is survived by his son Steven “Herbie” (Charlotte) Kawamura of Kilauea; daughter Sharon (Robert) Paik of Wailua; brother Calvin Kawamura of Pearl City; sisters, Hanayo Moritsugu of Kilauea, Elaine (Hideo) Watari of Hanalei, Sandra Miyabuchi of Kilauea; 6 grandchildren, Shelley Paik, Ryan (Stephanie) Paik, Stephanie (Keoki)Kawamura, Cara Colombini, Dante (Beth) Colombini, and Angela (Keith) Kaneko , 6 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A celebration of life will be held on April 27, 2019, at Hongwanji Mission in Kapaa with visitation from 10to 11 a.m. and services to begin at 11 a.m.

Marina Dureg Makua, 72, of Eleele, passed away on March 12, 2019, on Oahu. Born on Aug. 13, 1946, in Waimea.
She is preceded in death by her husband James Akina Makua; parents Tobias and Lorenza Dureg; sister Leonora Manuel; brothers, Elisio and Jack Dureg.
She is survived by her daughters, Wanda Irving of Eleele, Jaimie (Victor) Perez of Texas, Julia Makua of Michigan, Melissa (Brian) Edwards of Florida; sons, Audie (Lisa) Dureg of California, Billy (Doreen) Irving of Idaho; 12 grandchildren, Douglas (Pam) Dureg, Nathan Reyes, Neil (Jaylynn) Reyes, Kody Irving, Brittney (Evan) Hilliard, Kasey Toller-Dureg, Katelynn Toller-Dureg,Chynna Guy, Julian Thielbar, Miya Edwards, Dylan Dureg, Dallas Dureg; 4 great-grandchildren, Alexis, Kiann, Paigelynn and Rory.

Glenn Joseph Lardizabal
Glenn Joseph Lardizabal passed away on April 9, 2019, at the age of 64 in Lihue. He was born on March, 25, 1955, and was the owner of Lee’s Rentals. He also served in the Hawaii Air National Guard.
He is preceded in death by his wife Karen Lee Lardizabal of Lihue; father Mauricio Lardizabal Sr.,
He is survived by his daughter Lynn “Binky” Goo; son-in-law Jesse Goo; granddaughters, Jessie and Jia Marie Goo all of Wailua; mother Solidad E. Fernandez; step-father Baco Fernandez; brothers, Maurice (Florence) Lardizabal Jr. of Lihue, Alfred (Heidi) Lardizabal of Oahu, and Reynard Fernandez of Puhi; sisters, Maureen (Zachary) Octavio of Rio Rico, Arizona, Regina Aiken of Kent, Washington.

Cipriano “Cippy” P. Otoman, 93, of Kekaha, passed away March 5, 2019, at Waimea. Born on Jan. 1, 1926, Batac, Ilocos Norte, Philippnes, he was an irrigation crew chief with Kekaha Sugar Plantation.
Preceded in death by wife Sachie Otoman; son Sidney Nishiyama; daughter Sherry Ann Otoman; parents Domingo and Olimpia Otoman; brothers, Cecelio, Federico and Bernardo Otoman; sisters, Claudia and Marcy Otoman, Sachie, Sherry Ann.
He is survived by his sons, Michael (Marynel) Otoman of Eva Beach, Oahu, Gene (Elaine) Otoman of Waimea, David Otoman of Kekaha, Joseph Otoman of Kekaha; daughters, Judy (Guy) Fujita of Waimea, Lisa (Robin) Murayama of Lihue; 14 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; brothers, Cecelio Otoman of Philippnes, Federico Otoman of Philippines, Bernardo Otoman of Philippines; sisters, Claudia and Marcy of Philippines; numerous nieces and nephews.
