NAWILIWILI Kauai High School golfer Kanoa Nii finished with an 84 (42-42), Saturday to lead the Red Raiders to its third consective Kauai Interscholastic Federation win at the Ocean Course at Hokuala.

NAWILIWILI — Kauai High School golfer Kanoa Nii finished with an 84 (42-42), Saturday to lead the Red Raiders to its third consective Kauai Interscholastic Federation win at the Ocean Course at Hokuala.

Kanoa, bettering the score set by his brother Kamden during last week’s round, finished tied with Island School’s Niki Upson (45-39-84), but a strong showing by No. 2 Raider golfer Jaydon Kyono firing an 85 — just a stroke behind the leaders — led Kauai to its 37-stroke win at 347 to Island School’s 383.

Waimea High School got a 90 (44-46) from Nick Esposo to finish the day at 408 strokes.

On the girls course, Tyra Oshiro (44-39) and Taryn Taguma (43-40) each each shot an 83 to lead the Kauai girls team to a 265. The Raiders were the only ones with sufficient golfers to enter team scoring.

Top individualist honors went to Kauai High School’s Braeden Yokoyama who finished seventh overall at 92 (47-45).

The next KIF golf match will move to the Poipu Bay Golf Course, Saturday when the first grouping tees off starting at noon.
