Lily Flynn said her family had just dropped off Moriyama students Manaka Sanai and Chinatsu Kobayashi at the airport before joining other Kauai Sailing Association members Friday during the Flavors of Kukuiula (its a pau-hana party!) that helped the Kauai Visitor Industry Charity Walk raise funds towards the 2019 goal of $410,000 in honor of the 41st anniversary of the Charity Walk.
Lily Flynn said her family had just dropped off Moriyama students Manaka Sanai and Chinatsu Kobayashi at the airport before joining other Kauai Sailing Association members Friday during the Flavors of Kukuiula (it’s a pau-hana party!) that helped the Kauai Visitor Industry Charity Walk raise funds towards the 2019 goal of $410,000 in honor of the 41st anniversary of the Charity Walk.
Lily also is part of the Weatherly (it’s an Olson 30 boat) that races in the Nawiliwili Yacht Club shoreline series.
Having the nonprofit organizations that benefit from the charity walk was a great way to get a different crowd to the pau-hana party, and the dogs from the Kauai K-9 were great magnets for contributions.
Kudos to Brenda Sameshima on coordinating the great silent-auction items, and Sandi Kato-Klutke and Joyce Vidinha (perennial volunteers with the Hawaii Lodging &Tourism Association Kauai events) got help from Jenny Saguid (no decorated Christmas stockings this past holidays) and Betty Dela Cruz-Acob in coordinating sales of the silent auction item.
Ron Wiley (isn’t this his 30th anniversary on the KQNG airwaves?) had a special parking space, and Chip Bahouth is already looking forward to the shoreline fishing contest coming up April 26 (you can register online now!) with the weigh-in taking place at the Sheraton Kauai Resort.
OK, time to check out the Kauai Community College Sustainability Club composting project (Pat Gegen said Island School already has its composting bin half-filled).
