LIHUE — A couple of pro wrestlers from Kauai will be making their return to the ring this weekend.
Noah Gusman, known by ring name “The Kauai Kid” Noa Kaho‘omana, and Isaac Worth, known as Incredible Chris Wilde, will be part of Unify Championship Entertainment (UCE) show “Vindicta” on Saturday at Aloha Tower Marketplace in Honolulu.
Both Gusman and Worth said the show will feature several pro wrestling veterans such as Yoshitatsu, Taya Valkyrie and “The Samoan Stallion” Ativatu.
“Taya Valkyrie, she comes from Lucha Underground. She’s been in AAA out in Mexico. Yoshitatsu used to be in WWE,” Worth said.
Gusman, 27, of Kapaa, and Worth, 30, of Lihue, have done a handful of shows for UCE, which is a relatively new promotion. Shows bring crowds of about 200, they said.
“I actually did a show with them. It was during the pumpkin patch festival, which was back in, I want to say, October. That’s when I got this scar right here,” Gusman said, pointing to his forehead. “I threw the guy into the corner. He moved, and my body folded over the turnbuckle and my head hit the ring pole.”
The two pro wrestlers couldn’t share much details of the upcoming show per UCE policy, they said.
“Every time I go out there is definitely a new experience,” Worth said. “There’s only maybe a couple things I do that have been consistent – certain moves that I do and things I do in the ring. But by and large, I always want to come out with something slightly different or bring a new aspect into it. This one, definitely expect the usual shenanigans.”
Worth has been a pro wrestler for about a year. Gusman has wrestled for about two years.
Both have wrestled in shows on Oahu and on the mainland. The two have wrestled against each other as well.
“There’s not as much of an adjustment. He knows me well, and I know him well. We just kind of naturally flow with each other. It’s like, I tag him and he tags me, and we have a good time,” Worth said.
Gusman added: “It’s like having your set dance partner that likes to kick you everywhere and hit you everywhere.”
In a previous interview with TGI, Gusman said a goal of his is to headline a show. That’s yet to happen.
But in addition to that, he said he aims to one day wrestle for World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE).
“Everything I expected, really. There’s always the ups and downs in whatever you try to do – the uphill climb as well as the decline, you know? Basically, all in all, just try to do best in every aspect,” Gusman said.
Worth said, at least for right now, he’s not interested in wrestling for well-known promotions. He just wants to get out there and gain experience.
Among his goals is to go abroad and do shows. A few places he named are Japan and Ireland.
He described it as “chasing the muse.”
“I want to travel. I want to wrestle against guys I grew up watching. I want to continue to elaborate, grow and express what I’ve got going on,” Worth said.
