Keala Ellen Ke‘alalipoa Marie Kinimaka Senkus
Beloved Keala Ellen Ke‘alalipoa Marie Kinimaka Senkus, 66, completed her circle of life and has been called to her eternal home Feb. 5, 2019.
Married 40 years to Richard Senkus, soul mates for 45 years, lived with their “furry family,” Buddy, Lroc, Mele and Tiger.
With aloha, Keala and Richard’s hanai, Kaleo, Kaeo, Nanae Lopez, their loving children, the Kinimaka Ohana, sisters Kaimi, Kaniu, Kapu, Nani, Lihue, and brothers Titus, Alekai, the Senkus ohana, sisters Amelia and Greta, and brothers Tony and Eric.
“Aunty Keala” is lovingly remembered as a renown distinguished kumu hula, dancer, entertainer, musician, and successful restaurant owner, and touched and blessed innumerable lives.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 30, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Smith’s Tropical Paradise.

Betty Ann Liliu Saragosa Fernandez
Betty Ann Liliu Saragosa Fernandez, 81, of Ookala, Hawaii, died at her residence on March 3, 2019.
She was born in Hilo, Hawaii, on April 8, 1937, and was a retired housekeeper.
She was preceded in death by husband Harold Fernandez and great-granddaughter Caleigha Jean Fernandez.
She is survived by son Randall “Randy” Fernandez of Papaaloa, Hawaii, daughters Junedale Matsuda of Volcano, Hawaii, Carolyn (Alfonso “Bradda”) Martin Jr. of Kalaheo, and Desiree (Clyde) Kaluahine of Hanamaulu, brothers Charles Saragosa of Hilo and Albert (Lynelle) Toralba of Milolii, sisters Margie Carter of Kalaheo, Evon (Cory) Seyer of Nevada, Molly (Roy) McRight of Kona and Mona (Delbert) Costa of Laupahoehoe, brothers-in-law Ernest Thomas of Hilo, Sam Thomas of Hilo and Leonard (Claire) Midallia of Laupahoehoe, sisters-in-law Lyla Midallia of Hilo, Lorraine (Kenneth) Acdal of Paauhau and Linda Midallia of Ookala, 14 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.
She was preceded in death by husband Harold Fernandez and great-granddaughter Caleigha Jean Fernandez.
Visitation will be held at Dodo Mortuary Chapel in Hilo, Hawaii, on Saturday, April 6, from 9 to 10 a.m., with a prayer service to begin at 10 a.m. with lunch to follow at the mortuary. Burial will follow lunch at the Ookala Catholic Cemetery in Ookala, Hawaii.
The family suggests casual attire.

Fred Nares Quiroz
Fred Nares Quiroz, 70, of Kalaheo, passed away on March 1, 2019, at Wilcox Medical Center.
Born on April 27, 1948, in Oceanside, California, he worked in the construction industry and also as a security guard on Kauai before he retired.
He was preceded in death by parents Damaso (Mary) Quiroz, brother Charlie Quiroz, brother-in-law Guy Myslivy, and sister-in-law Janice Mareko.
He is survived by wife Cynthia “Cindy” Myslivy Quiroz of Kalaheo, sons Casildo J. (Natalie) Quiroz of Wailua, Neto A. (Sophia) Quiroz of Alameda, California, grandchildren Cairo Hulali, Joao Eleu and Keifer Paoa Quiroz, all of Wailua, numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins, sister-in-law Annie Quiroz, nephew Tommy Quiroz, and nieces Erica Quiroz Bala, Matai Juliana and Micah Bala, all of Oceanside.
Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, April 27, at Poipu Beach Park at noon for his celebration of life.
Back in the day he loved bodysurfing at Brennecke’s Beach, playing mountain ball in the old Koloa Mountain Ball League, and fast pitch softball on Kauai and throughout the state of Hawaii.

Herbert Holt ‘Kabule’ Kauahi
Herbert Holt “Kabule” Kauahi, 79, of Kapaa, passed away on March 16, 2019, at Kauai Veterans Memorial Hospital. He was born in Waimea on Oct. 24, 1939. He dedicated his life working for Hawaiian sovereignty.
He was preceded in death by parents Herbert and Christobel Tita Kauahi.
He survived by brothers Owen (Shirley) Kauahi, Melvin (Ethel) Kauahi and Dennis (Diane) Kauahi, sisters Sandra (Jack) Kinsey, Hanakaulani (John) Montgomery and Christobel Kaliko Kealoha, hanai sons Manu Kahala and Briston Kahala, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at Kauai War Memorial Convention Hall on Sunday, April 7, with visitation from 12:30 to 1 p.m. and services to follow.
