Encarnacion Rabago Delgado
Encarnacion Rabago Delgado, 95, of Lihue, passed away at Garden Isle Health Care on March 5, 2019. She was born in Burgos, Ilocos Norte, Philippines on Jan. 4, 1924, and retired from Sheraton Coconut Beach Hotel as a housekeeper.
Preceded in death by her husband, Melanio Pancho Delgado.
Encarnacion is survived by her caregiver and granddaughter Tiffany Delgado; daughters, Nancy Delgado, Pat Delgado Macadangdang, Victoria D. Garcia, Mercedes D. Baay of the Philippines, Teresita (Dario) Sibolboro of Las Vegas; son Henry (Ofelia) Delgado; adopted children, Zelda (Buddy) Viernes, Milagros Delgado, Wilmer Delgado; 13 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
A celebration of her life will be held on Friday, April 5, 2019, at Immaculate Conception Church with viewing from 8 a.m. and Mass celebration at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Kauai Memorial Gardens.

Michael “Mikey” Blackstad, 26, of Koloa, passed away on Feb. 14, 2019. Born on Aug. 10, 1992, in Lihue, Mikey was an AC Tech.
He is preceded in death by his wife Tia Obrero; maternal grandfather Chang Kaui; nephew Kingstyn Texeira
He is survived by his son Milo Pihanakalani Blackstad of Poipu; daughter Mia Mailani Blacksted of Poipu; father Billy (Leo) Blackstad; mother Bessie (Eddie) Kaui-Caberto; brother Derek (Briann Lazaro) Louis of Kaumakani; sisters, Ashley (Ruben Texeira) Blackstad of Puhi, Tiffany Blackstad of Puhi, Ariel (Tevyn Rita) Blackstad of Koloa, Kayla Blackstad of Omao; paternal grandparents Michael and Sharon Blackstad of Lawai; maternal grandparents Sandra Kaui of Hanamaulu; numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Celebration of life will be held on Saturday, March 30, 2019, at Kalapaki Nawiliwili Beach Park visit with the family is at 9 a.m. and celebration will be at 10 a.m. There will be a luncheon to follow. Family suggests casual attire.
Corazon Vallesteros Cadiente
Corazon Vallesteros Cadiente, 61, of Koloa, passed away on Feb. 24, 2019, at Straub Medical Center, Oahu. Born on June 24, 1957, in Bacarra Ilocos Norte, Philippines, Corazon was a seed cutter at Mcbryde Sugar Company, & Robinson
He is preceded in death by his father Federico Cadiente; mother, Caridad Cadiente; brothers, Andres Cadiente and Federico Cadiente, Jr.
He is survived by wife Elsa Ramelb Cadiente of Koloa; sons, Noel Cadiente (Prescilla) of Koloa, Jonel Cadiente (Rose) of Kaumakani; daughters, Azel Rose Cadiente of Koloa, Charlene Cadiente of Koloa, Jennifer Lee Cadiente (Kalen Soares) of Koloa; 8 grandchildren, Sheila, Aleesha, Shayla, Preston, Alika, Cayden Caizyn and Kailea; brothers, Fortunato (Aida) Cadiente of Lawai, Warlito Cadiente of Lihue, Robert (Lydia) Cadiente of Lihue, Dennis (Aillean) Cadiente of Kilauea, sisters, Erlinda (Prisco) Ancheta of Lihue, Gonnie (Roger) Barr of Connecticut, Merlina (Manuel) Catbagan Kapaa; numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family on Friday, March 29, 2019, at Garden Island Mortuary Chapel in Lawai from 5 to 9 p.m. with rosary at 7 p.m. Again on Saturday, March 30, 2019, at St. Raphael’s Church in Koloa from 9 to 9:45 a.m. where Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. A burial will follow at St. Raphael’s Church Cemetery. Family suggests casual attire.

Kevin Akira Gokan
Kevin Akira Gokan, 50, of Lihue, passed away on March 5, 2019. He was born on Aug. 22, 1968.
He was preceded in death by father Charles Gokan; paternal grandparents Takeshi and Kiyoko Gokan; maternal grandparents Jisaburo and Yoshiko Kaya.
He is survived by son Blaise Gokan; mother Hiroko Gokan; brother Cory (Lani) Gokan; nephews, Riley and Kai Gokan; hanai daughter Emi Sakamoto.
A celebration of life will be held at the Great Lawn at Puakea Golf Course, on March 30, 2019, from 5 p.m. Family and friends may join us for an evening of reminiscing and remembering.
Steven ‘Steamboat’ Patrick O’Keefe
Steven “Steamboat” Patrick O’Keefe, 69, of Hilo, died Feb. 28, at Hilo Medical Center. He was born in San Bernardino, California, and ran a hauling business serving the senior community of Hawaii’s Big Island.
His love for the ocean, the islands, and it’s people began over four decades ago on Kauai before moving to Hilo later in Life.
He is survived by son Kaden O’Keefe of Los Angeles; companion Charisse Vigneau of Hilo; brother Kevin (Dawna) O’Keefe of Carlsbad, Calif.; nieces and nephew.
Celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
Alvin M. Yamamoto
Alvin M. Yamamoto (AI) of Honolulu, passed away on Feb. 3, 2019. He was born on Kauai on Nov. 26, 1937. He served in the U.S Army and was employed at the Bank of Hawaii.
He was preceded in death by his parents Soichi and Kikue Yamamoto; and his sister Jean.
He is survived by his wife Jean; his son Gregg (Michelle); two grandchildren, Reyland and Aaron Yamamoto; sister Gloria (Ron) Matsuba; in addition to multiple nieces, nephews, cousins and aunties.
A celebration of Al’s life will be held on Saturday, March 30, 2019, at Hosoi Mortuary in Honolulu. Visitation with his family will begin at 9 a.m. with services to follow at 10 a.m.

Keala Ellen Ke’alalipoa Marie Kinimaka Senkus
Beloved Keala Ellen Ke’alalipoa Marie Kinimaka Senkus, 66, completed her circle of life and has been called to her eternal home Feb. 5 2019.
Married 40 years to Richard, soul mates 45 years, lived with their “furry family” Buddy, Lroc, Mele, Tiger.
With Aloha, Keala and Richard’s Hanai, Kaleo, Kaeo, Nanae Lopez; their loving children, the Kinimaka Ohana; sisters, Kaimi, Kaniu, Kapu, Nani, Lihue; brothers, Titus, Alekai, the Senkus Ohana; sisters, Amelia, Greta; brothers, Tony, Eric.
Keala, “Aunty Keala” lovingly remembered as a renown distinguished Kumu Hula, dancer, entertainer, musician, and successful restaurant owner, touched and blessed many innumerable lives.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 30, 2019, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Smith’s Tropical Garden’s. Friends welcome.

Magdalena Pascual Agbayani, 95, of Lihue, passed away on Feb. 17, 2019, at Garden Isle Health care and Rehab. Born on July 14, 1923, in the Philippines, she was a Housekeeper.
She is preceded in death by her husband Jose Agbayani; daughter Josefina Agbayani; sons, Generoso and Mario Agbayani; parents Esteban and Sabina Labayog Pascual; siblings, Genara Pascual, Florida Corpuz, Cresencia Regalado, Francisco Pascual, Maria Pascual, Benjamin Pascual, Esmenia Pascual.
She is survived by her daughters; Vicky Agbayani of Hanamaulu, Linda (Jacinto) Pascua of Kekaha, Julia (Rolando) Delemos of Calif., Susana (Moises) Pastor of Hanamaulu, Bina (Famie) Galano of Hanamaulu; 9 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Wake services on Friday, April 5, 2019, from 5 to 9 p.m. at Garden Island Mortuary Chapel in Lawai. Rosary will be at 5:30 p.m. and again on Saturday, April 6, 2019, at Immaculate Conception Church from 8 to 9:45 a.m. where Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. There will be a burial to follow at Immaculate Conception Church Cemetery. Misao Tamura
Misao Tamura, 101, of Kilauea, died at home on March 22, 2019. He was born in Moloaa, on April 6, 1917.
A carpenter by trade, he worked at both Kilauea Sugar Plantation and Princeville Corporation. After retirement, he remained active in the Kilauea Community, Christ Memorial Church and the Senior Center. He was also an active volunteer for RSVP and KEO. Walking two miles daily into his nineties, he later did Tai Chi and was featured in the International Tai Chi for Health Newsletter. He was also part of a Hawaii championship gateball team.
Misao took pride in his lifelong passion for woodworking – creating furniture and jewelry which he shared with family, friends and visitors. He additionally enjoyed hobbies of fishing, frogging and journaling. Several entries were published in Kauai’s Elder Resource magazine.
Misao was predeceased by his wife, Mariko Yoshimoto Tamura; his parents Usaburo Tamura and Tsugiyo Fukuda Tamura; brothers; Toyomi, Tadayoshi, Henry and James; sister Wakayo; son-in-law Leonard Lis.
He is survived by two sons, Ralph (Sharon) Tamura and Bruce Yoshimoto; two daughters, Winifred Tamura-Lis and Rose (Gary Miyashiro) Tamura; as well as 5 grandchildren, Luke, Holly, Akio, Justin and Travis; 3 great-grandchildren, Elise, Agatha and Hugo; brothers, Alan Yoshio, Toshisada and Richard; many nieces and nephews.
A private inurnment service has been held at Kauai Memorial Gardens.

Kesa Nakano Takahashi
Kesa Nakano Takahashi, 94, of Wailua, passed away at home on March 4, 2019. She was born Fukushima, Japan on Feb. 10, 1925, and retired as a pantry worker with Coco Palms Hotel.
Preceded in death by her husband, Henry Iwao Takahashi.
Kesa is survived by her children, 3 grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Family requests no koden. Private burial services were held at Kauai Memorial Gardens.

Solange Latif
Solange Latif, Jan. 11, 1929 – March 24, 2019, 90, of Kapaa, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family.
Born in Egypt, the oldest of nine children, Solange was known by many names-Sonia, Soli, Zuzu, Mom, Nona, Meme. She was loved by all those who had the pleasure of knowing her. In 1968 Solange immigrated from Egypt to the United States with her husband and children and to follow her family who had already migrated to the United States. When she arrived in the U.S. she spoke no English, but quickly transformed from mother and housewife to the family wage earner to support her family. While working and raising her kids, she entered nursing school and graduated with English as her fourth language. She moved to Kauai in 1988 as a registered nurse and worked at Wilcox Hospital until she retired in 1994. She is remembered fondly by her family, patients and co-workers.
Solange was preceded in death by her son, Omar; sister, Lillian; husband, Abdel “Khamis” and granddaughter Margo.
She is survived by her children, Magda (Michael) Latif-Sterioff, Mona (Mark) Hampton, Magdi (Sheree) Latif; 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; siblings, Max, Clement, Yvonne, Aida, Camille, Roger and Marie; nieces and nephews.
Private burial services were held at Kilauea Japanese Cemetery.
