Juliet Leilani Kanoa Aiu

Juliet was born in Kekaha, Kauai. She passed away on Feb. 12, 2019, on Oahu at the age of 91. She lived her entire life on Kauai.
She retired as Kauai’s Project Manager of Hawaiian Home Lands and also as a Commissioner for the State Department of Transportation. She was the President of ‘Ahahui Ka‘ahumanu Society for eighteen years. She was also the President of the Prince Kuhio Festivals and Holoku Balls.
She was pre-deceased by her beloved husband, Harold; parents, Joseph and Julia Vidinha Kanoa; siblings, Maurice, Buddy, Ellen Young, Larry Ching and Mabel Huddy.
Juliet is survived by her children, Bob (Jocelyn), Joe, Wendy, Tom and LuAnn “Tootie” (Jennifer Ching); her grandchildren, Jodi (Phil) Johnson, Justin (Danielle) Aiu, Tracy (Nate) Pellazar, Aaron (Marci) Aiu, Carly Aiu, Micah Aiu, Jesse Avila, Malia (Kona) Kuailani and Michaela Tapia, and sixteen great-grandchildren. Also survived by sister, Lorraine Like and hanai children, Jerry Nakasone, Charn Hall and Lorna Nishimitsu.
Services to be held on Saturday, March 30, 2019, at St. Catherine’s Church in Kapaa. Viewing from 8 to 11 a.m., Mass at 11 a.m.
Private burial to be held at a later date at St. Catherine’s Cemetery.
Michael K. Chow
Michael K. Chow, 59, of Visalia, California, peacefully passed on Thursday, Feb. 21, 2019, at Kaweah Delta Hospital. Michael was born on May 2, 1959, on Kauai. A hard worker, he was a long time employee of the Sheraton Kauai Coconut Beach Resort as a security guard and retired from the State Department of Transportation highway division as a heavy equipment operator.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Martha Chow; eldest sister, Lyndelle Makanani.
A gentle soul, Michael was fun, loveable and a devoted family man. He is survived by his wife, Malia Chow; daughter, Mishelle Kahilena Chow; son, Michael Waika Chow; God children, Ekolu and Tristyn Rivera; his sister, Darlene (George) Thronas; brothers, Ken Chow and Clayton (Kim) Chow; nieces, Sheri and Sharlene Thronas, Kendra and Kaylyn Makanani; nephews, George Jr. Thronas, Tyson Thronas and Kahale Chow; brother-in-law, Tommy Makanani; in-laws, Wenny (Mary) Rivera, DeeAnn ( Tom) Slobig, Akala (Bryan) Aiwohi, Elua (Trish) Rivera; Hanai family, John and Judy Crabtree of Visalia; tons of aunts, uncles, cousins, extended nieces, nephews and friends.
A celebration of life and legacy will be held at the Lihue Veterans Center on Kauai, on March 22, 2019. Visitation will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. with services to follow and luncheon to follow at the Veterans Center. There will be a burial to follow at the Lihue Cemetery.
Tia Alohilani Obrero
Tia Alohilani Obrero, 26, of Koloa, passed away on Feb. 14, 2019. She was born in Lihue on Sept. 26, 1992 and was a dedicated wife, mother, daughter and friend and also a medical technician.
Preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Eddie Obrero Sr. and Lucille Peralta.
Tia is survived by her daughter, Mia Mailani Blackstad; son, Milo Pihanakalani Blackstad; mother, Sandee Aqui; father, Eddie (Mary) Obrero; brother, Brent (Robyn) Obrero; sister, Kayli Obrero; maternal grandmother, Joanie Cliffe; maternal grandfather, Lambert (Cecilia) Aqui; one niece, Kaya Kulia Obrero; one nephew, Kaz ‘Eleu Obrero; numerous aunties, uncles and cousins.
A celebration of her life will be held on Sunday, March 24, 2019, at Kauai War Memorial Convention Hall with visitation from 10:30 a.m. and services celebrated at noon.

Corazon Vallesteros Cadiente
Corazon Vallesteros Cadiente, 61, of Koloa, passed away on Feb. 24, 2019, at Straub Medical Center, Oahu. Born on June 24, 1957, in Bacarra Ilocos Norte, Philippines, Corazon was a Seed Culter at McBryde Sugar Company and Robinson.
He is preceded in death by his father, Federico Cadiente; mother, Caridad Cadiente; brothers, Andres Cadiente and Federico Cadiente, Jr.
He is survived by wife, Elsa Ramelb Cadiente of Koloa; sons, Noel Ramelb Cadiente (Prescilla) of Koloa, Jonel Ramelb Cadiente (Rose) of Kaumakani; daughters, Azel Rose Ramelb Cadiente of Koloa, Charlene Mae Ramelb Cadiente of Koloa, Jennifer Lee Cadiente (Kalen Soares) of Koloa; 8 grandchildren, Sheila Cadiente, Aleesha Olshefski, Shayla Olshefski, Preston Cadiente, Alika Homalon, Cayden Cadiente-Silva, Caizyn Cadiente-Silva and Kailea Matthews; brothers, Fortunato (Aida) Cadiente of Lawai, Warlito Cadiente of Lihue, Robert (Lydia) Cadiente of Lihue, Dennis (Aillean) Cadiente of Kilauea; sisters, Erlinda (Prisco) Ancheta of Lihue, Gonnie (Roger) Barr of Connecticut, Merlina (Manuel) Catbagan Kapaa; numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family on Friday March 29, 2019 at Garden Island Mortuary Chapel in Lawai from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm with rosary at 7:00 pm. Again on Saturday March 30, 2019 at St. Raphael’s Church in Koloa from 9:00 am to 9:45 a.m. where mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am. A burial will follow at St. Raphael’s Church Cemetery. Dwayne Daye Naumu
Dwayne Daye Naumu, of Lihue, passed away on Feb. 12, 2019, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital. He was born on Dec. 27, 1947, on Kauai.
He is preceded in death by his father, Wallace Aukai Naumu.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth Naumu; mother, Janet Naumu; children, Tiffany Naumu, Trisha Naumu, Garrett Naumu and Krystal Naumu; brothers, Darryl (Caroline) Naumu, and Glenn Naumu; grandchildren, Brenden, Aleajah, and Taytra Naumu, as well as numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
A Celebration of his life will be held on March 24, 2019, at the Kauai Veteran’s Center in Lihue, Family Visitation from 3 to 3:30 p.m. with services to follow. The family will be wearing his favorite color “red” at his celebration and invite anyone to join us.

Lenson William Coyamin Perez
Lenson William Coyamin Perez, 31, of Poipu, passed away on March 1, 2019. He was born on April 8, 1987 in Lihue.
He was preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Julio Cruz Perez, Sophia Gonsalves (Joseph) Akita.
He is survived by his mother, Rebecca “Becky” (Ricky Imada) Coyamin; his father, Leonard; step-mom, Edwina Perez; his sister, Leona (Les Tumpap) Perez; maternal grandparents, Ross Coyamin, Frances (Donald) Rapozo; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and many many friends. Visitations with the family will be on Sat., April 13, from 8:30 a.m., with Mass celebrated 10 a.m. at St. Raphael’s Church in Koloa. The family graciously requests no flowers.

Steven Paul Hilbert
Steven Paul Hilbert, of Kekaha, died Thursday, Jan. 24, at the age of 64.
Steve is survived by his 2 sisters and many nephews and nieces. He is preceded in death by his Grandpa, Edward Guelf and his partner of 30 years, Lanette Smith.
He was a retired fishing boat captain working out of Dana Point, California, and long time resident of Aspen, Colorado where he was a well known bar tender.
Memorials are being planned both on Kauai and in Colorado at a later date.
Michael ‘Mikey’ Blackstad
Michael “Mikey” Blackstad, 26, of Koloa, passed away on Feb. 14, 2019. Born on Aug. 10, 1992, in Lihue, Mikey was an AC Tech.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Tia Obrero; maternal grandfather, Chang Kaui; nephew, Kingstyn Texeira.
He is survived by his son, Milo Pihanakalani Blackstad of Poipu; daughter, Mia Mailani Blacksted of Poipu; father, Billy (Leo) Blackstad; mother, Bessie (Eddie) Kaui-Caberto; brother, Derek (Briann Lazaro) Louis of Kaumakani; sisters, Ashley (Ruben Texeira) Blackstad of Puhi, Tiffany Blackstad of Puhi, Ariel (Tevyn Rita) Blackstad of Koloa, Kayla Blackstad of Omao; paternal grandparents, Michael and Sharon Blackstad of Lawai; maternal grandparents, Sandra Kaui of Hanamaulu; numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Celebration of life will be held on Saturday, March 30 2019, at Kalapaki Nawiliwili Beach Park. Visition with the family is at 9 a.m. and celebration will be at 10 am. There will be a luncheon to follow. Family suggests casual attire.
Rev. Elaine Helen Keikilani Petersen Keale
Rev. Elaine Helen Keikilani Petersen Keale, 77, of Anahola, passed away in Wilcox Medical Center on March 7, 2019. She was born on Oahu on Feb. 6, 1942 and worked at Kauai Veterans Memorial Hospital, Wilcox Memorial Hospital and retired as a CNA from Samuel Mahelona Memorial Hospital. She was a very generous and devout member of Ka Ekalesia o Ke Akua Mana, Church of the Living God.
Preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Moses Kaleoao Keale Jr. and son, William Jacob Keale.
Elaine is survived by her son, William “Ama” (Brianne Santos) Kamala-Keale; sisters, Frances Kamoku, Palma Kamala; granddaughter, Elaine Keikilani Kamala-Keale; hanai children, Anaconi Kamala, Rowena Fukushima, Wenda Moon, Rodney Oyamot, Mansfield Oyamot, Malcolm Oyamot, Jonathan “Jay Jay” Oyamot; brothers-in-law, Arthur (Dorothy) Keale, Arthur Kahale; sister-in-law Diane Keale; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of her life will be held on Tuesday, March 26, 2019, at Kauai War Memorial Convention Hall with visitation from 9 a.m. and services beginning at 10:30 a.m. Inurnment will be held at Kauai Memorial Gardens at 1:30 p.m.
