LIHUE — The Kauai Police Department on Monday launched its Online Crime Reporting System, offering the public a new way to submit a police report.
“Our staff has been working diligently on utilizing advanced technology to improve efficiency and communication within our department and the community,” Acting Chief of Police Michael Contrades said. “We’re happy to finally launch our new Online Crime Reporting System, which is designed to make it easier and more convenient for the public to file non-emergency police reports.”
The types of incidents that can now be reported online include lost property, criminal property damage, theft and civil disputes.
To file a police report online, visit http://www.kauai.gov/KPD-Online-Reporting and follow the instructions. You must be at least 18 years old with a valid email address to submit a police report online.
Upon completion of submitting a report online, you will receive an emailed confirmation and will be given a temporary report number.
The public should not report emergencies through KPD’s Online Crime Reporting System. If a crime is in progress or if someone is hurt, threatened, or in danger, the public should call 911 immediately.
