Wine-tasting for occasions, big or small! Fancy-label wines, and even etched bottles with special messaging? Wow! Congratulations to Deann Yamaguchi (does she still have that Kia Soul?) on being one of a bunch of new Kauai Chamber of Commerce members who were in the spotlight during the first quarter general membership meeting presented by the Kauai Lifeguard Association (Chantal Zarbaugh was going crazy with the launch of the Visitor Industry Charity Walk and the chamber event!) and the Kauai Marriott Resort &Beach Club.

Kudos to Cindy Kauanui, Mrs. Hawaii Shannon Daliva, and all those Holo Holo Charter ohana on the launch of the Holo Holo pono pledge program that works not only for visitors, but for everyone!
Kudos, too, to Judith Burtner, who had family from everywhere — Alaska, Washington and Colorado — visiting Hanapepe (Friday Night Art Walk is a great stopping point before Kauai Interscholastic Federation volleyball games in Waimea!). Judy was available to talk story and sign copies of her new book on the Robinson family (Kay Koike had to break away for some of Chef Carla Dusenberry’s — what? she had the night off? — crispy banana lumpia), and Greg Askew said he’ll be missing out on the Pacific Missile Range Facility (welcome home, Tom and Donna Clements!) car show because he’ll be at the Kauai Community Market. He’s at the Princeville art event this afternoon (2 p.m. start at the Princeville community center).
