Pedestrians shouldn’t be on roadway
Pedestrians need to be kept off the roadway. You can drive from Brennecke’s store and restaurant to Nihi Kai Villas any time of day or night, rain or shine and you will see herds of people walking, jogging and pushing strollers, all over the road.
Cars have to take turns as if it’s a one-lane road. It is a safety issue. We all know what kind of damage a vehicle can do to a human life. There are no sidewalks and no lines on the road.
And P.S. thank you, mayor, for the quick solution to the DMV problem. My recent visit was 10 minutes. Compared to the hour wait a few months ago. I have faith in you, Mayor Kawakami. You do great things for Kauai.

Many worked hard on road repairs
The Kalihiwai Ridge Community Association wishes to thank the County of Kauai for its diligent work to repair and reopen Kahiliholo Road. The Department of Public Works provided the leadership and coordination to get the repair done right and was responsive throughout the project to requests for information and by pass road maintenance.
A special mahalo to the Hanalei baseyard crew for their flexibility and expert road work. We know this work was added to their regular assignments and thank them.
We also want to express our gratitude to the landowners of Wai Koa, Joan Porter, and Common Ground, Oliver Niedermaier, for their generosity and patience during our need to use their properties for access.
Mahalo to the Kauai Water Department, Hawaiiantel, Spectrum and the Kauai Island Utility Cooperative for their efforts to maintain critical connections and responses to community concerns.
We appreciate the inconvenience this situation caused to many and want to thank everyone for their help and aloha.
