Juliet Leilani Kanoa Aiu

Juliet Leilani Kanoa Aiu was born in Kekaha. She passed away on Feb. 12, 2019, on Oahu, at the age of 91.
She lived her entire life on Kauai.
She retired as Kauai’s project manager of the state Department of Hawaiian Home Lands, and also as a commissioner for the state Department of Transportation. She was the president of ‘Ahahui Ka‘ahumanu Society for 18 years. She was also the president of the Prince Kuhio Festivals and holoku balls.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Harold, parents Joseph and Julia Vidinha Kanoa, and siblings Maurice, Buddy, Ellen Young, Larry Ching and Mabel Huddy.
She is survived by her children: Bob (Jocelyn), Joe, Wendy, Tom and LuAnn “Tootie” (Jennifer Ching), grandchildren Jodi (Phil) Johnson, Justin (Danielle) Aiu, Tracy (Nate) Pellazar, Aaron (Marci) Aiu, Carly Aiu, Micah Aiu, Jesse Avila, Malia (Kona) Kuailani and Michaela Tapia, and 16 great-grandchildren, sister Lorraine Like and hanai children Jerry Nakasone, Charn Hall and Lorna Nishimitsu.
Services will be held on Saturday, March 30, at St. Catherine Church in Kapaa, with viewing from 8 to 11 a.m. and Mass at 11 a.m.
A private burial will be held at a later date at St. Catherine Cemetery.
Betty Anne
Sabog Bernabe
Betty Anne Sabog Bernabe, 77, of Puhi, passed away at Wilcox Medical Center on March 3, 2019. She was born on Oahu on Feb. 22, 1942, and was a chambermaid at Coco Palms Hotel.
She was preceded in death by daughter Flordelisa Bernabe, parents Pedro and Angeline Sabog, and brother Albert Sabog.
She is survived by husband Antonio Bernabe, daughters Lisa Marie (Adam Millard) Bernabe, Lorelei (Dane) Felix and Elvie (Kaumaka) Asing, grandchildren Kai Felix, Kanekoa Asing, Kaulana Asing, Kahaku Asing, Alex Palacio, Wolfie Michels, Andrew Michels and Analorie Michels, sisters Gina Hagmoc and Anna (Gary) Steffen, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of life will be held on Monday, March 11, at Immaculate Conception Church, with viewing from 8 a.m. and Mass celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Kauai Memorial Gardens.

Tia Alohilani Obrero
Tia Alohilani Obrero, 26, of Koloa, passed away on Feb. 14, 2019. She was born in Lihue on Sept. 26, 1992, and was a dedicated wife, mother, daughter and friend, and also a medical technician.
She was preceded in death by paternal grandparents Eddie Obrero Sr. and Lucille Peralta.
She is survived by daughter Mia Mailani Blackstad, son Milo Pihanakalani Blackstad, mother Sandee Aqui, father Eddie (Mary) Obrero, brother Brent (Robyn) Obrero, sister Kayli Obrero, maternal grandmother Joanie Cliffe, maternal grandfather Lambert (Cecilia) Aqui, niece Kaya Kulia Obrero, nephew Kaz ‘Eleu Obrero, and numerous aunties, uncles and cousins.
A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, March 24, at Kauai War Memorial Convention Hall, with visitation from 10:30 a.m. and services celebrated at noon.

Rebecca Worthington ‘Becca’ Pickett
Rebecca Worthington “Becca” Pickett, 59, died Feb. 19, 2019 at Wilcox Medical Center in Lihue, of heart failure.
She moved to Kauai in 1988 to settle in Kilauea. She taught language arts, career and technical training, and led the teen parent program at Kapaa High School, where she worked for 22 years. She didn’t hesitate to pursue new work experiences, which included employment with Kamehameha Schools and Kawaikini charter school. Recently, she was excited to join the staff of Kauai Community College.
She was an engaging and committed kumu to two generations of Kauai keiki. She was an active and beloved member of the Kilauea community, the Hanalei Canoe Club, Christ Memorial Episcopal Church and an informal but close group of coastal swimmers on the North Shore.
She was a woman committed to her students and her passions, an auntie who would advocate tirelessly for those she cared about, and was known as someone who would not back down from challenges on water or land. She had an adventuresome spirit and loved to travel.
She was preceded in death by mother Pat Pickett.
She is survived by father Donald (Patti) Pickett, brothers Tom (Katie) Pickett and Toby (Meghan) Pickett, nieces Erin, Gillian and Mallory Pickett, nephew Rylan Pickett, and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
A memorial service and celebration of her life is planned for 11 a.m. Sunday, June 16, at Waipa west of Hanalei.
Dwayne Daye Naumu
Dwayne Daye Naumu of Lihue passed away on Feb. 12, 2019, at Wilcox Medical Center. He was born on Dec. 27, 1947, on Kauai.
He was preceded in death by father Wallace Aukai Naumu.
He is survived by wife Ruth Naumu, mother Janet Naumu, children Tiffany Naumu, Trisha Naumu, Garrett Naumu and Krystal Naumu, brothers Darryl (Caroline) Naumu and Glenn Naumu, grandchildren Brenden, Aleajah and Taytra Naumu, as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, March 24, at the Kauai Veteran’s Center in Lihue, with family visitation from 3 to 3:30 p.m., with services to follow. The family will be wearing his favorite color, red, at his celebration, and invite all to join them.
