Yukie-Lynn Nalani DeSilva
Yukie-Lynn Nalani DeSilva of Kapa’a passed away at Queen’s Medical Center on Jan. 26, 2019, at the age of 48. Born on Dec. 7, 1970, she was an Advertising Sales Assistant for The Garden Island Newspaper and also an active Crossfitter at Kaua’i CrossFit.
She is preceded in death by her father, Yukio Higashi. She is survived by her husband of 29 years, Kevin DeSilva; daughter, Moana (Chris) Baltazar; son, Dustyn (Michaela Manago) DeSilva; hanai son, Kalani Kahaunaele; mother, Olinda Higashi, two sisters, Maile (Jonah) Cummings and Anolani (Kelo Rivera) Higashi, five brothers, Gordon (Danice) Higashi; Alvin (Deborah) Higashi, Dean (Mel) Higashi; Blaine Kaneholani and Kenny (Kana Kaohi) Meatoga; In-Laws, Wayne and Rita DeSilva; brother-in-law, Travis (Lisa) DeSilva; and grandchildren, Cijay, Cyris, Christyn and Chloey Baltazar. She was preceded in death by brothers-in-law, Alan and Shannon DeSilva and sister-n-law, Lynette Meatoga.
A celebration of her life will be held Saturday, March 9, 2019 at Anahola Beach Park. Visitation will be at 10 a.m. where services are to follow.
Allen Genichi Harada
Allen Genichi Harada, 76, of Kalihiwai, passed away at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on Jan. 24, 2019. He was born in Lihue on March 2, 1942, and was the former Proprietor of Hanalei Wishing Well Shave Ice.
Preceded in death by his wife, Diana Rylands; parents, Genichi and Rose Harada.
Allen is survived by his sister, Lily “Mieko” (Wilbert “Afuk”) Tai Hook; brothers, Alfred “Yoshi” Harada and Ray “Bull” Harada; numerous aunties, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2019, at 5-2950 Kuhio Hwy. at the Tai Hook’s Estate (Kalihiwai) from 10 a.m. to noon.

Gordon Ray Soares, Sr.
Gordon Ray Soares, Sr., 64, of Kalaheo, passed away on Dec. 27, 2018, at his home in Kalaheo. Born on Dec. 16, 1954, in Lihue, Gordon was a truck driver/heavy equipment operator with Operator Engineering Union Local 3
He is preceded in death by his son, Gordon R. Soares; parents, Albert and Harriett Soares, Sr.; sisters, Antoinette Arizo, Irene Tupou; brother-in-law, Filipie Tupou; in-laws, Clarence Souza, Sr. and Jeannette Matsumura.
He is survived by his wife, Darlene Souza Soares of Kalaheo; sons, Gordon (Rhoda) Soares, Jr. of Kauai, David (Misty) Soares of Kauai; grandchildren, Kalen (Jenna Cadiente), Maegan, David Jr., Devin and McKenna Soares; brothers, Albert Soares, Jr. of Lihue, Edward Roger Soares, Sr. of Kapaa; sister, Cindy (Michael) Bandman of Kauai; numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, March 2, 2019, at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Kalaheo from 8:30 to 10:15 a.m. where Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Aloha attire suggested.

Kimo Palama
Kimo Palama of Kalaheo, died on Feb. 15, 2019, at Straub Medical Center on Oahu at the age of 54. Born on July 11, 1964 in Waimea he was a machine operator for Goodfellow Brothers Inc.
He was preceded in death by parents, Tommy and Patsy Palama; brother, Kaleo Palama; and sister, Tanya Palama.
He is survived by his son, Koa Palama; daughters, Keani Palama (Kyle DeLima), Reign Palama (Laule’a Smythe); brothers, Lance Palama, Kawila (Desiree) Palama, Keola (Megan) Palama; sister, Tara Palama; nephews, Kui (Shanelle) Palama, Landon Palama, Keanu (Trisha) Palama, Kaweo Palama, Hekili Palama; nieces, Kulia Palama, Lacey Palama, Kahawaila’i Palama; great-nephews, Lawakua Palama, Keale Palama, Haku Palama; great-nieces, Anuhea Palama, Aleigha Palama, Lanela Palama; numerous cousins, aunties and uncles, horses and dogs.
Friends may visit with the family Saturday, March 9, 2019, at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Kalaheo. Visitation at 8:30 a.m. Mass to be celebrated at 11 a.m. Celebration of life to follow at the Hanapepe Soccer Field. The family suggests cowboy attire.
Glicerio ‘Cerio’ Batrina Morden Sr.
Glicerio “Cerio” Batrina Morden Sr., 90, of Puhi passed away at Garden Isle Health Care on Feb. 12, 2019. He was born in San Patricio, Santa Maria, Pangasinan, Philippines on Aug. 28, 1928, and was the proprietor of Green Island Taxi.
Cerio is survived by his wife, Alejandra Morden; 6 children, Gener (Carlina) Morden, Rina (Lawrence) Cheung, Gally (Catherine) Morden, Jun (Edna) Morden, Gaudencio (Debra) Morden, Alma (Edwin) Oligo; 14 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren; sister, Presca Manuel; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of his life will be held on Friday, March 8, 2019, at Immaculate conception Church with viewing from 8 a.m. and Mass celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Kauai Memorial Gardens.

Louisa Luika Tachikawa
Louisa Luika Tachikawa, 84, of Lihue, passed away at Wilcox Medical Center on Feb. 18, 2019. She was born in Kalihikai, on Feb. 11, 1935, and she held numerous positions in Princeville and was an entertainer at Smiths Boat Tours.
Preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Tachikawa; parents, David and Louise (Haleakala) Niau; 19 siblings; grandson, Gavin Li’inuikane Hernaez.
Louisa is survived by her daughters, Halan (Sonny) Kamoku-Fernandez, Melinda (Herman) Hernaez, Edwina (Dana) Kamoku-DeMello, Francine (Tommy) Kamoku, Emmaline Kaili; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and 2 great great-grandchildren.
A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2019, at The Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Lihue Ward with viewing from 9:30 a.m. and services celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow at Kauai Memorial Gardens.

David Allen Page
David Allen Page, 66, of Lihue, passed away in the care of Garden Isle Hospice at the Wilcox Medical Center in Lihue, on Feb. 2, 2019, from his battle with lung cancer. He was born on July 26, 1952, in Idaho Falls, Idaho to Rulon Allen Page and Carmella (Faye) Mitchell Page. In his early years, David grew up in Idaho Falls where he graduated from Bonneville High School in 1971. In 1972, David married Peggy Bruderer in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Four children were born into that union. The couple were divorced in 1991. In 2003 David began a new life with his end of life companion, Amelia Sales on the Island of Kaua’i, Hawaii.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carmella and Rulon; sister, Kathleen; brother, Michael; sister, Brenda; and brother, Douglas.
He is survived by his life partner, Amelia Sales of Lihue; his son, Gerald Page of Medical Lake WA.; his daughter, Candice Page Churchill of Elgin, Oregon; son, Jason Page of La Grande, OR; and son, Justin Page of Meridian, Idaho. His surviving siblings include his brother, Donald Page of Grants Pass, Oregon; his sister, Bethann Farrell of Willamina, Oregon; and his brother, Dennis Page of Anchorage, Alaska.
There will be no formal funeral services for David, as he wished to have his remains cast upon the Pacific Ocean by his family.
Christian Sahagun Labrador
Christian Sahagun Labrador, 89, of Lihue, passed away on Feb. 22, 2019, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital. He was born in Kilauea, on Jan. 4, 1930, and retired from the McBryde Sugar Plantation in Koloa.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ciriaco and Teresa Sahagun Labrador; daughter, Imelda Aguda; sisters, Fabiana Guerrero, Carmen Vicente, Leandra Bartolome and Ines Lazaro; brother, Phillip Labrador.
He is survived by his wife, Luz Labrador; sons, Jason (Jenna Vegas) Labrador and Roy (Sharnette) Labrador; daughters Jusiefine (Jaime) Alvarado, Joanne (Christopher) Hardesty, Jerrelyn (Gerald Silva) Labrador; sister, Cenona Acob; brother, Jose Labrador; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2019, at Immaculate Conception Church, with viewing from 9 a.m. and services celebrated at 10 a.m.. Burial will follow at Kauai Memorial Gardens.

Josephine Ellen Chenoweth
JoEllen passed away peacefully on Feb. 22, 2019, at her home in Princeville, surrounded by her family. JoEllen was born on June 30, 1922, in Richmond, Indiana and completed high school in Richmond before attending Northwestern University in Chicago. She married William Chenoweth in 1946 and they raised three children.
The family moved to Arizona in 1959 where JoEllen earned her Master’s degree and eventually worked as a Social Worker with the Pima Tribe on the Gila River Indian Reservation. She then went to work with the Department of Defense in Ansbach, Germany and ended her career in 1997 at Schofield Barracks on Oahu. After retirement JoEllen move to Princeville in 2000.
JoEllen was preceded in death by her husband, William Chenoweth, in 1998.
She is survived by her daughter, Catie Burns; two sons, Steve (Jackie) Chenoweth and Ed (Nancy) Chenoweth; four grandsons, 2 granddaughters, and 5 great grandchildren.
Please join the family as we gather together to remember JoEllen Thursday Feb. 28, 4:30 to 6 p.m., 5122 Kaiolani Loop, Princeville. A scattering of ashes will follow at sunset from the Hanelei Pier, and the remainder will be interred at Punchbowl alongside her husband’s.
