Pre-registration is not only saving money but allows more time to enjoy the Mardi Gras festivities, said Ally Kirk of the Kauai Animal Welfare Society.
Tickets for the annual Mardi Gras-Cirque Pour Les Animaux are available at the KAWS website, www.kaws4paws.org.
“This year’s annual fundraiser event promises over-the-top Mardi Gras glitz and glamor in true New Orleans style, with a Kauai twist,” Kirk said. “This Mardi Gras celebration will be a full-of-fun, full-of-surprises evening to benefit the dogs and cats of the KAWS Krewe.”
The Mardi Gras-Cirque Pour Les Animaux will be held Saturday, Feb. 23, from 5:30 to 9 p.m. at the Courtyard by Marriott in the Hale O Ho‘olaule‘a tent in Waipouli.
A buffet dinner catered by Fresh from the Garden awaits, along with entertainment from Performers from Soul Fire Productions, live bands, including Gypsy Spice, and silent and live auctions.
Delicious desserts follow from Dizzy Lizzy and Fresh from the Garden, including the special Mardi Gras “King Cake” that could get a male, or female, crowned “King for the Night.”
“To add to the excitement of the evening, we are encouraging people to dress up in their best, over-the-top Mardi Gras costume,” Kirk said. “Anything goes, but remember, this event is kid-friendly. There will be a fun prize awarded for the most fabulous costume.”
No costume? Not a problem, as costuming is not mandatory.
About KAWS:
“Our commitment is to find homes for all animals, placing special attention to the dogs at KHS (Kauai Humane Society) who are at risk, i.e. been at the shelter over three months and/or who are starting to show signs of kennel stress. While finding homes for the stray and surrendered pets is integral to our mission, it is equally important to address the causes for these over populations: too many unspayed/unneutered dogs and cats. KAWS aims to provide affordable and accessible spay and neutering programs as well as offering educational programs to promote proper care and treatment of animals. We do not have a facility, though it is our vision to open a sanctuary for both dogs and cats in the future.”
