More excitement as Joanne Parongao brought out the Tsunami Taiko Chinese lion to celebrate the Chinese year of the pig, Sunday where the food court (how was the Disney’s Moana in Hawaiian?) had quite a crowd despite being so close to the kickoff of the NFL Super Bowl.
Caroline Lum said Tsunami Taiko will be joined by the Joyful Noise ensemble in chasing away evil spirits and welcoming good luck, Friday when Stacie Chiba Miguel of The Shops at Kukuiula celebrates the year of the pig (the Chinese Spring Festival continues through Feb. 15) starting at 6 p.m. (go early for parking!).
Kudos, too, to Jean Souza and all her Hawaiian Islands Humpback Whale National Marine Sanctuary volunteers for getting the inflatable whale (Lihue Public Library librarians Victoria Lam and Sierra Hampton-Eng were super busy with all the kids and parents coming to see and learn more about the humpback whales!).
Today, Wednesday, is the last chance to catch the whale at the Princeville Public Library from 4 to 6 p.m. And yes, it is free and open to the public.
