Well the tiger shark must eat, its just part of the hazard going surfing in waters where the shark feeds.
I’ve seen allot of tiger sharks while spear fishing, its only the younger ones that try to steal your fish while its being towed on a line behind you. The larger one don’t normally try to do that because we will spear it. But when a surfer gets into foaming water and is difficuilt to see, then chances are some shark may see just the bottom of the surfboard and thinks its prey.
Mr. Oyama, May I quote you in a speech I’m doing in a class in Illinois ? I don’t know many fisherman and would like to include your experience in a speech.
What a coincidence…an anonymous shark…and an anonymous shark victim…!

Mercy, go for it. Actually we ran into a huge tiger shark once, maybe 15 feet and it made a buzzing sound when it checked us out while spearing fishing. There was about 10 of us in waters about 50-60 feet deep and we had allot of fish.
Every one was eyeing that monster and headed for the shore, but it left us alone. It was close to where the Coast Guard station on the south shore of Kauai used to be next to Breneke. Noticed that some type of brown liquid was seeping from underwater caves on the ocean floor, could be sewage from lava tubes on land.
