Welcome back, Jeff and Cindy Haigh! Jeff creates those fabulous sand sculptures at Kalapaki Beach (happy holidays to Morris Unotoa’s family who was cruising the beach walk following Sunday brunch)! Jeff is planning another display for the New Year’s (how about Chinese New Year?) that should be up by Monday.

Kudos to Hoku Watersports (mahalo, Greg Davis for the voice mail!), the Kauai Marriott Resort and Beach Club (mahalo to Kaupena Kinimaka for the heads-up), and Malama Mahaulepu for coordinating Santa’s visit (Eve Boranian of Sacramento, California, was thrilled when she confirmed the arrival with a phone call to Hoku) aboard a double-hulled canoe paddled by a host of keiki.
Jeff was just finishing up his “Mele Kalikimaka” sculpture, getting the help of Ariana, Leland and Joseph Nagel of San Francisco as the canoe pulled ashore, and Dr. Kelly Robb (she knows where all the happening events are) got to celebrate Matias Pfeffer’s first Christmas with mom Stephanie.
Kudos to Ida Leasiolagi of Unique Sweets (they’re in the Anchor Cove Shopping Center near the ABC Store) who was able to start work later because it was Sunday, and because she had a large order to fill over the weekend.
Elvrine Chow had her kadomatsu arrangements available for the New Year’s at the Kauai Community Market, and she’ll have more Saturday ahead of the New Year to welcome the gods of good fortune.
