WAHIAWA, Oahu — Kapaa High School’s Jolette Miner-Ho placed third in her weight class at the Hawaii Wrestling Officials Association Scholarship Tournament.
Miner-Ho defeated Jaylin Pa‘a‘aina of Kaiser High School in overtime in the third-place match Saturday at Leilehua High School on Oahu. Miner-Ho got the takedown to win in sudden death.
Kapaa’s Shanayah Marshall placed fifth in her weight class. She defeated Ileana Prado Domingo of Campbell High School in the fifth-place match.
Miner-Ho and Marshall are the first girls in Kauai Interscholastic Federation history to reach the podium at the officials tournament, according to KIF wrestling tournament director Mac Pigott.
KIF wrestlers will next compete at the Pa‘ani Challenge all-girls tournament, and at the Moanalua Duals meet.
