It was a good thing to have the smart phone Tuesday when a beautiful rainbow formed over Hanapepe Stadium during the Kauai Interscholastic Federation boys soccer game between Waimea and Kauai high schools.

With just 11 days remaining before Christmas, holiday events are popping up all over the place, as the Friends of the Waimea Public Library will be hosting a used book sale Saturday afternoon to allow people waiting on the Waimea Christmas Light Parade something to do…and don’t forget to shop the goodies at Waimea Project Grad (last year they were set up at the Shell gas station. Where will they be, this year?).
Stacie Chiba-Miguel and The Shops at Kukuiula will present its Keiki Holiday Bash (with lots of snow!) as a fundraiser for the Kauai Independent Food Bank (they got all kinds of help from the St. Catherine School eighth-graders, and the Chiefess Kamakahelei Middle School Leadership Class!), Saturday from 2 to 6 p.m., with Mary Lardizabal and the Kapaa Middle School choir (they’re performing at the Kauai Community Market on Dec. 22, too).
Melissa McFerrin-Warrack is spearheading the Kauai Made Holly Jolly Holiday Fair (Laurie Ho said Sam Lee is going to be there with his men’s clothing) Saturday from 9 a.m. at the old Big Kmart front parking lot, and Kevin Matsunaga and CKMS TV is hosting its Christmas craft fair at the school from 8:30 a.m.
Need nighttime thingies? Elizabeth Freeman has the Festival of Lights going at the Historic County Building, and what is on the menu for The Joy of Christmas at St. Raphael Church?
Merry, merry, ho, ho!
