NEW YORK — No surprise here. The owner of a suitcase stuffed with cocaine discovered at Kennedy Airport has not come forward to claim it, authorities said.
The 38 bricks — more than 100 pounds with a street value of $1.3 million if sold in bulk — are now the subject of a probe by Homeland Security Investigations and the Port Authority Police Department.
A police source said it is still not clear who the suitcase belonged to and whether that person or someone else was supposed to pick it up.
The seizure happened last Wednesday when U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers opened a suitcase that had been loaded onto a flight from Quito, Ecuador, the agency said.
