Was it Kauai Planning Director Michael Dahilig’s birthday? Whatever the reason, congratulations to the coordinators of the Rice Street Block Party on a great event for filling the section of Rice Street from the intersection of Kalena/Hardy streets to Umi street with revelers of all ages!

The event was a great way to end a day of excitement where Kapaa High School trainer Chris Ang had time to get back to the school, change, and find his way back to Rice Street after the Warrior football team (congratulations and good luck, Coach Philip Rapozo and ohana!) downed the Kaimuki Bulldogs 20-12 before a totally appreciative Warrior fanbase. Now, what was on the dinner menu?
Joe Grace had his moopuna manning the well-known food truck where the roast pork was already sold out (time to go stop by the Kauai Veterans Center parking lot), and a lot of the trucks from the Kauai Beer Company (Larry Feinstein was far away from his normal home base) Food Truck Thursday had a chance to come together in a huge food court atmosphere.
Harvey Maeda had a long day, starting with that Omao church car show where he said a lot of free turkey dinners and other giveaways were distributed before the Kauai Classic Cars were allowed to show at the former Kauai Toyota lot on Rice Street. Sheldon and Kristyn Peralta of Baba’s Toy Box started with the Chiefess Kamakahelei Middle School TV craft fair before moving to Rice Street where those Stan Lee boxed collectibles were getting a lot of looks, and Scott Johnson used the event to ready Paulo for its appearance in the Lights on Rice holiday parade coming up Dec. 7.
And, how many went to check out the Glenn Kojima rummage (and jewelry!) at the Kauai Realty rummage and craft event where Ansel Nelson found some nice Milo Spindt rummage?
