Nick Vujicic considers himself blessed. Married to a beautiful woman, family, career, popular, movie star handsome. He surfs, travels, does motivational speaking.
By anyone’s standards, that’s a good life.
But there is something else you should know about Nick Vujicic. Or would know if you met him.
He has no arms, and no legs. He was born that way.
Yet, his faith in God is sure.
He will be speaking on Oahu and be on Kauai in spirit via a live simulcast 6:30 to 8:30 each night today through Sunday at Kukui Grove Center at the former Blockblocker. His “Hope is Alive” presentation is free and open to all, put on by New Hope Lihue.
Vujicic is the author of “Life Without Limits,” and “Unstoppable: The Incredible Power of Faith in Action,” which my wife game to me as a gift. It remains one of my favorite books about the life of a man who, by most people’s way of thinking, shouldn’t be able to do what he does, shouldn’t have the courageous, fearless spirit that he does.
Vujicic has previously visited Kauai and spoke at Ha Coffee, along with Bethany Hamilton, a good friend who has given Nick surfing lessons!
In “Unstoppable,” Vujicic writes about growing up, facing challenges, overcoming them, persevering. Mostly, though, he writes of success because of his faith, because of his relentless spirit that says never give up. He writes of believing and achieving. He writes of great adventures — he doesn’t accept the limitations that you would think apply to a man with no legs, no arms. He goes beyond what anyone would expect of him. But, as he writes, it’s not for his glory. It’s for God’s glory.
Here are some excerpts from “Unstoppable” that might prove inspiring for you:
w “When people read about my life or witness me living it, they are prone to congratulate me for being victorious over my disabilities. I tell them that victory came in surrender. It comes every day when I acknowledge that I can’t do this on my own. So I say to God, “I give it all to You!’”
w “You don’t have to be a spiritual person to put faith into action, but as a Christian, I have to say that knowing God is strong when I am weak gives me great relief and tremendous peace and joy.”
w “Once I accepted that God loved me and had a purpose for me, my self-image changed and so did my attitude and my actions.”
w “In my younger years, I spent a great deal of time questioning God and His plan for me. Now, I am nore patient, and instead of asking, I wait for him to reveal his answers in his own time.”
No arms. No legs. But a life without limits due to a life of faith.
Whether you read books written by Nick Vujicic or hear him speak, you can’t help but be inspired that this is a man who lives well, and lives with love.
