The Kauai Lynx basketball program announces the Veterans Day Weekend tournament starts Saturday and continues through Monday at Bernice Hundley Gym at Kapaa High School.
“This is going to be a fun tournament that will help build the excitement for the winter leagues presented by the county,” said Kauai Lynx coach Clarence Sales. “This year, we have Hokulele, coached by Ravel Kaupu, coming to participate from the Big Island. They will be participating in the (seventh and eighth) grade girls division.”
Tournament format is a grade-level girls invitational with teams in the fifth- and sixth-grade division and the seventh- and eighth-grade division.
Play starts at 9 a.m. Saturday when the Westside Blue takes on the Dream Team in a fifth- and sixth-grade division match. Hokulele, the visiting Big Island team, will open play in the seventh- and eighth-grade division starting at 11 a.m. against the hosting Kauai Lynx, seventh- and eighth-grade girls.
Sunday pool play continues from 10 a.m. with the final contest tipping off at 3 p.m.
Playoff games start Monday from 9 a.m. with the seventh- and eighth-grade division title game starting at noon.
Teams participating in the fifth- and sixth-grade division include Westside Blue, Westside White, Kauai Lynx, Rebels and the Dream Team.
In addition to Hokulele and the Kauai Lynx, other teams in the seventh- and eighth-grade division include Westside (Kauai) and the Dream Team.
