Are there plans to change the hours of operation at all County of Kauai transfer stations to be open later? The current hours are inconvenient for the members of the public. What was the reasoning for the change in operating hours the transfer stations early at 3 p.m.?
There are currently no plans to change the operating hours of the transfer refuse stations. The current schedule makes it feasible for the county to maintain a seven-day-a-week service to the public.
Please provide an update to implement curbside recycling.
Curbside recycling service is currently not offered to residents by the county as part of refuse service. In order for the county to provide islandwide curbside recycling service to residents, a Materials Recovery Facility (otherwise known as a MRF) needs to be constructed on Kauai. A MRF contains a sort line to separate co-mingled recyclables and would enable the county to collect all types of food and beverage containers, as well as mixed paper and cardboard in a single blue recycling bin at your curb.
However, Kauai residents and small businesses can subscribe to curbside recycling for a fee. Kauai Curbside Recycling provides convenient curbside recycling pickup every other week. Services are offered in all regions of the island. To learn more about Kauai Curbside Recycling, call (808) 353-1852 or e-mail info@kcrpickup for more information.
