HONOLULU — A housekeeper at a Honolulu hotel says she was assaulted by a guest after she could not open the door to an adjoining room.
Jackelyn Bautista says she told the man at the Royal Hawaiian hotel last week that she would call security to open it, but he grabbed her hand twice and tried to pull her back into the room.
Bautista says she was disappointed by management’s lack of support after reporting the encounter to hotel security and police.
The hotel says in a statement that it cannot discuss the incident because of confidentiality issues, but it has safety measures to protect employees.
Bautista is a member of the Unite Here Local 5 union, which is engaged in contract negotiations with hotel owner Marriott International.
