Lesther Calipjo, center, is congratulated by Stephanie and Charlie Iona (he did a great job moderating the Kauai Chamber of Commerce mayoral forum last week) on being a recipient of a Mea Ho‘omana‘o award during the chamber’s third quarter general membership meeting Tuesday at Smith’s Family Garden Luau in Wailua.

Renee Parker of Wilcox Health has fun as Kauai Fire Department Firefighter Jeremy Albano puts on the turbos on the final stages of a smoothie on the Wilcox Blender Bike at the county’s annual Health and Wellness Fair at the Kauai War Memorial Convention Hall in Lihue Wednesday.

Who saw the delivery person from Pizzetta at the county’s annual Health and Wellness Fair? She was the one with the virtual crown checking out the offerings from Kawika Kuali‘i and the Plantation Coffee Company (that banana bread was a winner!) where they had a choice of lunch offerings.

Kudos to Regina Carvalho and the Kauai County Committee on the Status of Women (they’ve got the annual Breast Cancer Walk coming up Oct. 3 at the Lihue Civic Center Moikeha Building) on presenting this annual event where participating vendors could network with each other to see what each one brought to the table for everyone’s benefit.
Edie Ignacio Neumiller said Regina even arranged to have the Historic County Building lit up in pink for the month of October which is Breast Cancer Awareness Month (Josie Pablo will have the Samuel Mahelona Memorial Hospital residents doing their sixth annual walk Oct. 5 on Ke Ala Hele Makala‘e near the Kapaa Neighborhood Center — any takers to help wheel the wheelchair-bound residents?).
Kimberly Hope and her violin will be among the entertainers, as will Catherine Paleka and the Kapaa High School marching band.
Kudos to Mark Perriello, Carol Manera Texeira and Anna Baudouin (Scott Kelby’s Worldwide Photowalk is coming up in Hanapepe Oct. 6) of the Kauai Chamber of Commerce on a great third-quarter general membership meeting, where Kamika Smith was getting watched by Ali‘i as he swept the seeds from the pathway leading to the luau pavilion.
OK, time to go check out Pearl Shimizu and the Kauai Japanese Cultural Society at the Matsuri that starts at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Kauai War Memorial Convention Hall in Lihue.
