National Tropical Botanical Garden and Kauai Community College’s collaborative Earth Matters public lecture series continues on Sept. 11 from 5:30 p.m. as NTBG interpretive training coordinator Karen Silva presents “An Intimate Look at the History of the Lawai Valley and Allerton Garden.”
Join her for a look back in time at how the Lawai Valley on Kauai’s Southshore has evolved from the time of Queen Emma to the McBryde sugar-plantation era and its later transformation into a garden built by Robert and John Gregg Allerton before becoming part of the NTBG.
This free public event is offered at the KCC cafeteria (behind the Performing Arts Center).
