LIHUE — With the downgrading of Tropical Storm Lane, Young Brothers anticipates resumption of its 12 regularly scheduled weekly sailings starting today.
Port authorities have opened all ports and terminal facilities. Young Brothers’ seven barges and tugs, which were riding out the storm at sea, have all returned safely to Honolulu, and Young Brothers’ personnel have begun loading cargo for delivery to the Neighbor Islands.
Post offices open
The U.S. Postal Service said all post offices statewide except for the Pepeekeo Post Office (Big Island) will be open and providing mail delivery today.
No water conservation
The Department of Water lifted the water conservation request for Haena-Wainiha residents as of 10 a.m. Sunday. DOW personnel completed water facilities assessments Sunday afternoon for the Haena-Wainiha water system.
Public schools open
State Department of Education public schools and offices statewide resumed normal operations Sunday, with the exception of four schools in Lahaina that will be closed for students. After-school programming and activities including interscholastic athletics will also resume today.
Courts open again
The Hawaii State Judiciary announced that all courthouses and facilities will resume normal operations today. The courts had been closed due to Hurricane Lane. Anyone scheduled to appear at a courthouse today should appear as scheduled. Hearings or trials postponed due to the closure of the courts will be rescheduled to the next available date with due consideration for any statutory mandates.
