Four hurt in Kuhio crash
WAILUA — Four people were hurt, one critically, in a three-car crash on Kuhio Highway Friday afternoon.
According to a county press release, a Ford SUV was southbound when it attempted a left turn onto the Marine Camp access road about 4:40 p.m. when it was struck by an oncoming Honda sedan.
A Chevy pickup following the Honda attempted to stop but also struck the Ford SUV.
One person was extricated from a vehicle in critical condition. Two others were in serious condition, the county reported. All four individuals were transported to Wilcox Medical Center.
Police opened a former cane haul road to alleviate congestion.

How come it takes SO LONG for kpd to deal with this non fatal accident? I drove by and 30 minutes after the people were transported to Wilcox, the cops are just standing around, they have the lidar scanner set up but no one is using it…cars still sitting on the highway an hour after the crash. Come on guys! I’ve seen cops elsewhere handle these situations many times and the priority is to clear the traffic once everybody is safely transported away. They wasted hours at the same spot on the day of the missile alert – traffic gridlock all across the entire east side. Lord help us if we actually need to evacuate!
hasn’t that been a dangerous area for many years? And what is being done about it? No light, no nothing, a real no nothing local government in Kauai. Vote very carefully.
Very sad how their lives have been instantly changed or possibly lost.
And accidents continue on that stretch of the highway, 40 mph speed limit constantly ignored.
What are the State’s short and long term fixes for traffic?
