Kristyl (she had to do hula so couldn’t do a foil surfing demo with Kalani at the Hawaii Beach Safety Week Water Safety Conference) was on hand Friday afternoon to help keiki with safe surfing with Cleve Zarbaugh and Duane DeSoto and other water safety officers at the ocean safety demonstrations.

The gathering with fourth-grade students attracted a lot of attention along the Kalapaki Beach walk fronting the Kauai Marriott Resort &Beach Club, and Keahi Tucker, Kauai native and Honolulu Hawaii News Now TV news anchorman, one of the speakers at the two-day conference, took time out to check out the action, where Hilda “Tiki” Morales of Tiki Tacos (she’ll be participating in the Celebrity Chef Cookoff at the Kauai County Farm Bureau Fair, too!) had her daughter (remember her as a baby when Tiki Tacos got started in Kealia?) participating.
Kudos to Kalani and the Kauai Fire Department and its Ocean Safety Bureau on setting up this year’s event, where David Duncan dropped in to check out the happenings before meeting up with his Friendship Force group from New Zealand. How about the Hero (water wear) inflatable rash guard?
