LIHUE — Mayor Bernard P. Carvalho Jr. signed a third supplementary emergency proclamation on Wednesday for the County of Kauai in order to continue relief efforts for damages sustained during the April flood.
The proclamation also extends an emergency rule and order prohibiting the operation of Transient Vacation Rentals in the Lumahai, Wainiha and Haena areas, and limiting accessibility to the area.
“This third supplementary emergency proclamation is necessary for our officials to efficiently manage the recovery work needed for the health, safety and welfare of our community,” Carvalho said in a press release.
The rule will continue until Kuhio Highway repairs are done, Carvalho said.
Visitors remain prohibited from Lumahai, Wainiha, and Haena.
