WAIMEA — The West Kauai Business and Professional Association third quarter meeting is set for July 16 at the Waimea Neighborhood Center.
The candidates for state representative for Kauai County District 16, Stephanie Iona and incumbent Dee Morikawa, will present their platforms.
“This is not a debate, but rather an opportunity for people to hear from both candidates,” said Eric Nordmeier.
Victoria Wichman of the state’s Department of Land and Natural Resources will update the group on the Russian Fort Pa Ula Ula, and the Kauai Habitat for Humanity will speak on its Waimea housing project.
Wichman, an interpretive specialist and archaeologist for the DLNR, will talk about the proposed development of Fort Pa Ula Ula, also known as the Russian Fort, in Waimea. Plans are being developed to place interpretive signage, replicate buildings and build a visitors center on the grounds.
A no-host dinner for $5 starts at 5:30 p.m., followed by the meeting at 6 p.m.
Did you happen to see Jaws II? I’m holding a ply board and a 2 x 4 x 36 length wooden stake. Is this the same type of meeting? “Sea weed?”
Stephanie Iona? Why not just put in Ron Kouchi, Mel Rapozo, or Ross Kagawa or Billy Decosta? These candidates need work. They went to the high school in Waimea town. Now that we’re talking about politics and issues around the community where they once knew. Logical or straight forward assumption. What else have these candidates got or are going for? For tourism.
