Kudos to Clarence Sales (he’s hoping some Kauai teams make it to the title games), Ipo Yoshioka, and all those involved in the Kauai Hoops Classic, as more good (really good!) basketball games are on tap through the final championships tonight at the Kauai High School gym.

Amber Tallent (remember her as the Indigo Lady from the Kealia Farms farmers market?) moved to Waimea, so now has her goods at the Hanapepe Friday Night Art Walk (they’ve been doing this for more than 20 years!) at The Storybook Theatre. And yes, she still is growing (the Waimea weather must be helping the dye’s vibrancy) some of the indigo plants she derives her dye from.
Mark Jeffers of The Storybook Theatre has a new hire in Nicole Cowan (don’t worry, she’s still with Big Brothers Big Sisters Kauai!), who was busy getting ready for the Father’s Day outing at the Kuks Mini Golf Course, where Phil Worwa must have been setting up his baskets for disc golf so couldn’t make the Art Walk.
All that excitement only helped the West Kauai Hongwanji, Hanapepe Temple bon dance where the Rev. Tomo Hojo touched on the Gannenmono, or 150th anniversary of the first Japanese immigrants (they got here on June 19 following a month on the ocean). Bon dance moves to the Lihue Hongwanji Mission in Kapaia this Friday and Saturday (yikes, it’s also the Kauai Fashion Weekend gala!). Time to visit the Rev. Kazunori Takahashi one last time before he moves to the Honpa Hongwanji Mission (that’s on Oahu) for his next assignment.
