LIHUE — Jose Bulatao, founder of Bailes de Jose dance troupe, lost “50 years of existence” Sunday in the vicinity of the Lihue Neighborhood Center.
Bulatao was attending a Miss Kauai Filipina pageant meeting with his white, loose-leaf binder containing photos and media exerpts of the Filipino dance troupe. Bailes de Jose will be participating in the 60th annual scholarship pageant, June 16 at the Kauai War Memorial Convention Hall.
On leaving the meeting about 3:30 p.m., he absent-mindedly left the binder atop his car’s roof before driving off. “This has no value to anyone who finds it,” Bulatao said. “But it is priceless to me because it is the history of the Bailes de Jose. I am willing to offer a reward to whomever finds it.”
Bulatao said on realizing his error, he retraced his route to the center, but could not find the binder. He also contacted the center manager and spoke with several residents along his route in hopes of finding his historical collection. He also filed a police report.
Anyone finding the items can call him at 977-0160.
